"i liked this film because, like its orginal version, it doesn't go right into the gore and violence with crappy acting and a script that just makes you want to hit yourself. but i clarify myself, this film, and i'm pretty sure the first one too, did start out gory and with violence, but at least it had good writing and good acting with sequences more dramatic than horrific. and i like that too; not a lot of zombie films these days or in the previous days include real life drama into them. but i think that's a great idea because in a sense it does make the movie ten times scarier. i like scary movies, but i really don't see much becasue, honestly, most of them are stupid and don't even make you jump. now i'm not talking snuff films like hostel or the remakes of the texas chainsaw masacre for instance, those films just take the pleasure of killing people in such a grussome way and think that that is the new scary. it is scary because it does happen in real life. now, i'm not contridi ... "Children of Men, the story of a man living in what seems to be the last days for all man kind, relates very much to the themes of such films like Deep Impact, Armagedon, Signs, and War of the Worlds. why? well, like i said, it deals with the destruction of man kind, in this case, really the self-destruction. chaos takes over, it is a world gone mad after the fact that there is simply no more reproducing, women can't have babies anymore. the film does not tell us why, just that it simply cannot happen. there are suggestions as why: pollution, genetic experiments; but it is the reaction of those left that really marks the end. Alfonso Cuaron, shows us a more darkened world than the one we live in today. a great example of it is choosing the location. the location is london, one of the most riches countries today with almost no defects. in the future however, it becomes like another iraq or mexico city, showing the vulnerability that we as men have. but then, a miralce happens, or ... "this surpasses all those emotional emotional films that come out every so often. this is the story of a woman who works in a central station in Brazil, who meets a young boy that will change her life forever aswell as she will change his.this is truelly a great piece of work. anybody that really admires great pieces of film they should definitely see this film. Fernada Montenegro and Vinicius de Oliveira create such great chemestry rarely seen on film. this could be easily Walter Salles, Jr.'s best film. in an unforgettable expirience, Central Station will stay with you for as long as you can remember, it is that good. "i just saw this movie, like two days ago, for the first time since it came out on video. that was almost ten years ago. i was only 12. and back then i thought it was a good film, but actually now that i see it again i think it is by far one of Jake Gyllenhaal's best films. i fell in love with this movie all over again. it reminded me of my younger years and all the weird things i tried to do after school. it's an inspiration to me sort of like it was with Billy Elliot. this is a feel good movie. it will leave you feeling good. it is not excelent in all of it's elements but it still works. i read the book and usually after reading the book i hate the movie; not with October Sky. this film truelly captures the imagination that one day those four boys of Coalwood had.
