Personal statement: Second to my love of the internet, is my love for movies so Spout is an awesome site made for me... and you too. I just graduated college and started working for Spout as their Design Integrator. I also like to disc golf and play with my three year old dalmatiam "Logo". He's a lot of fun. I love finding films that are off the radar. I love movies, good or bad.

American Piety
By peterfecteau in Independent Features
"Synopsis: Andy has more faith in his iPod than God. He wears Katarina Witt t-shirts, computer dates, and drives away his girlfriend, Susan, by comparing religions to breakfast cereals. Andy steps in front of traffic while watching a podcast, gets hit, and ends up in limbo with Mr. Ying and Ms. Yang, two 'consiglieres' to the Almighty. They tell Andy he must choose a religion from five minute meetings with representatives from Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity or he gets a 'dirt nap'. He reluctantly agrees. Meeting the Buddhist monk goes wrong, as Andy provokes the Monk to violence. Ying and Yang appear to warn Andy to take things seriously. Andy then meets with the Islamic cleric. Andy is less abrasive but questions why Muslims would want virgins in the afterlife. After the Cleric tells off a telemarketer, he teaches Andy his first lesson. A kick in the bollocks

"I can't help but compare this film to American History X. While the latter was a bit more on the front line and hit closer to home, This is England is quite gritty. Shaun, the lead, is a lost preteen that has recently lost his father to that war in the Falklands. His Mother is struggling and he is bullied in school. He finds solace with Woody, an older boy and his group of friends. When Combo, an old friend of Wood's, is released from prison, he tries to recruit the group into a racist agenda. Shane is sucked in by Combo's father-like presence and we see the plot line turn grim. " [More]

Re:Episode 7: COMPLICATED MAZES
By peterfecteau in Butterknife
"Is this dialogue at all scripted? It doesn't seem like it is. [/quote]Are you refering to the actual episode? It seems to me like it's partially scripted. I know some of Joe Swanberg's work is light on the scripting. If you think about the nature of the cast it seems more plausible, given the fact that the cast is composed of other directors. " [More]
