    Knocked Up  (2007)

I laughed so many times during this movie.  Judd Apatow is really hitting his stride with this movie and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.  It's not so much the hirarious situations that are so funny (although there are those), it is the conversations and reflections between the characters that are so good.  He once again nails the way guys think and talk when no one is "watching."  There's a scene where Paul Rudd tells Rogen that he looks like Babe Ruth's gay brother and the way the two look at each other and laugh is about as "real" a moment in a movie as I can remember.  Oh yeah, Katherine Heigl is extremely hot.

Why in the hell did I like this movie?  Was it just because of my exceptionally low expectations?  I have no idea.  When I sit here and try to pick apart the movie, I realize that there were so many ridiculous parts that there is just no reason for me to like this movie at all.  But I did.  And that my friends is more troubling to me right now than anything.

    Shrek the Third  (2007)

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two Shreks, but this one was just bad.  While it was good to see some of the previous "gags," (three blind mice, Gingerbread Man, cross-dressing wolf, etc.), they all seemed -- sadly -- old and just forced this time around ... while the new "gags" just seem to play off the old ones from the previous two.  The "new " princesses could have been so much funnier.  Simply, the wit and charm from the first two Shreks are missing in this installment.

    Blades of Glory  (2007)

If you accept the fact that it is just going to be silly, then you might enjoy this film.  Personally, for me it was just OK -- I only really laughed out loud once ("FLASH ... AAAAHHHHAAAA ... Master of the Universe!").  But, then again, just looking at Will Ferrell makes me laugh, so I am kind of biased.  Jon Heder was horrible, though.  Just horrible.

    Halloween  (1978)

This movie came on HBO when I was in the third grade, and my babysitter let me stay up to watch it.  It scared the everliving hell out of me.  I refused to close the closet door in my bedroom for at least three years -- if you've seen the movie, you know why.  I do not think I was ever able to enjoy "slasher" films that came after this one just because they never reached that pure horror with me that I experienced watching Halloween.  I have not seen it since that one time I watched it, and I'm afraid it will not be as good or as scary as I remember.  Nonetheless, it remains as the single scariest movie I have ever seen.

    Spider-Man 3  (2007)

I thought Spiderman 3 overall was a good movie experience.  It was cheesy in parts (e.g., American Flag) and the coincidences were just a little too much (Hey, of all the skyscrapers in New York, the daughter of the Fire Chief is modeling on the floor that is hit with a crane, the boyfriend of said model is taking pictures, and her classmate is saving her).  The movie went on for about 30 minutes too long.  That said, you know you are watching something fun when you take your 11-year-old son and five friends to th move, and they are quiet the whole time (once the movie actually started).  They were completely in awe of the movie and talked about it the whole way home.  Myself: I liked it, but I can see why people were disappointed.
