Talk

Hilarious

"I laughed so many times during this movie. Judd Apatow is really hitting his stride with this movie and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. It's not so much the hirarious situations that are so funny (although there are those), it is the conversations and reflections between the characters that are so good. He once again nails the way guys think and talk when no one is "watching." There's a scene where Paul Rudd tells Rogen that he looks like Babe Ruth's gay brother and the way the two look at each other and laugh is about as "real" a moment in a movie as I can remember. Oh yeah, Katherine Heigl is extremely hot. " [More]
Why?

"Why in the hell did I like this movie? Was it just because of my exceptionally low expectations? I have no idea. When I sit here and try to pick apart the movie, I realize that there were so many ridiculous parts that there is just no reason for me to like this movie at all. But I did. And that my friends is more troubling to me right now than anything. " [More]

Re: Top 5 Sea/Water Movies

"When I started listening to this week's podcast and heard what the top-five list would be I immediately thought, "Lamest. Top. Five. Ever." But when Sam said the list was just an excuse to get everyone to watch "Master and Commander," I laughed. It is so true. No one remembers this movie at all. I love that movie, and everyone should see it. Luckily, I saw it at the theater and got to experience the creaking of the boat and the splash of the waves in incredible sound. I think their list was also an excuse not to mention, "Titanic," and feel so good about it."A River Runs Through It," though, was a horrible choice. Why not just say, "Caddyshack" because there are two swimming pool scenes and a boat launch. " [More]

"Thanks! I agree that in this case, seeing the elder Kinsella, and then Ray saying all the phrases ("If You Build It, He Will Come," "Ease His Pain," and "Go the Distance"), Ray's saying, "It was you," and then Shoeless Joe saying, "No, Ray, it was you," brought the whole movie together. I cannot think of another movie where a character's introduction late in a movie brings it all together like this one. " [More]
Not good at all

"I thoroughly enjoyed the first two Shreks, but this one was just bad. While it was good to see some of the previous "gags," (three blind mice, Gingerbread Man, cross-dressing wolf, etc.), they all seemed -- sadly -- old and just forced this time around ... while the new "gags" just seem to play off the old ones from the previous two. The "new " princesses could have been so much funnier. Simply, the wit and charm from the first two Shreks are missing in this installment. " [More]
Simply OK

"If you accept the fact that it is just going to be silly, then you might enjoy this film. Personally, for me it was just OK -- I only really laughed out loud once ("FLASH ... AAAAHHHHAAAA ... Master of the Universe!"). But, then again, just looking at Will Ferrell makes me laugh, so I am kind of biased. Jon Heder was horrible, though. Just horrible. " [More]

Field of Dreams

"In Field of Dreams, when Ray Kinsella realizes that the backup catcher on the field is his long-dead father as a young man ... well ... it is getting kind of dusty in my office, so I'll just stop typing ... right ... now. " [More]
First and scariest movie

"This movie came on HBO when I was in the third grade, and my babysitter let me stay up to watch it. It scared the everliving hell out of me. I refused to close the closet door in my bedroom for at least three years -- if you've seen the movie, you know why. I do not think I was ever able to enjoy "slasher" films that came after this one just because they never reached that pure horror with me that I experienced watching Halloween. I have not seen it since that one time I watched it, and I'm afraid it will not be as good or as scary as I remember. Nonetheless, it remains as the single scariest movie I have ever seen. " [More]

"I thought Spiderman 3 overall was a good movie experience. It was cheesy in parts (e.g., American Flag) and the coincidences were just a little too much (Hey, of all the skyscrapers in New York, the daughter of the Fire Chief is modeling on the floor that is hit with a crane, the boyfriend of said model is taking pictures, and her classmate is saving her). The movie went on for about 30 minutes too long. That said, you know you are watching something fun when you take your 11-year-old son and five friends to th move, and they are quiet the whole time (once the movie actually started). They were completely in awe of the movie and talked about it the whole way home. Myself: I liked it, but I can see why people were disappointed. " [More]
