"Pretty straightforward, for fellow listeners who haven't heard yet. Sam Van Hallgren is retiring from his regular Filmspotting gig. Matty Ballgame will take his place in two weeks. I wish to collect listeners feelings and thoughts, start a discussion. I just want to thank Sam and welcome Matty "

"Come to think of it, this could easily qualify as th Charles Foster Kane Memorial Memory List. Like Rashomon we're dealing with the fragile and personal nature of memory when talking about one man. But alas, Citizen Kane has it's own golden locker in the penalty box. "

"Hey Adam, I was shaken by A Mighty Heart. Winterbottom doesn't spare a detail in showing us Karachi and the avenues of this "War on Terror" that we may never understang. Angelina Jolie and Irrfan Kahn were amazing. Honest, complicated, heartbreaking. Love the show, Alex "

"The handheld camera effectively places you on the scene of a catastrophe like this. The reactions, timing and relationships feel raw and sincere. It's very similar to the way I felt and several of my friends felt in NYC on 9/11. May be a little too much for me to handle, though I hope enough time has passed to be able to see it. (The way Lady Liberty's head flies off it almost looks like a Planet of The Apes prequel) I love Lost, and I'm excited to see that Abrams is a part of this thing.Hopefully the buzz won't give too much of it away. "Thanks Sam,I have to share the love with Diane Keaton. My inner film geek loves her in Reds, Annie Hall, Looking for Mr. Goodbar and Something's Gotta Give. I happily avoided Because I Said So, which I would probably only watch on an airplane. She's a little less controversial than Faye Dunaway, anyway.Spout is not helping cure my Crackspotting or Cinecrack addiction at all, not that I'd ever want that.Absolutely classic Massacre Theater performance! "I love that entrance. Great choice, Paul.I also love Giulietta Massina's entrance in Juliet of the Spirits http://www.spout.com/f ilms/18423/default.aspx. She's shot from many angles, but Fellini consciously holds your intrigue for some time before you see her face. "

"Hi Adam,I just started listening to Filmspotting #160 so I haven't reached the 'top 5' part. Sam just suggested putting Fresnadillo in a coffin.I don't know if this is a penalty box selection, but Orson Welles' entrance in Carol Reed's The Third Man http://www.spout.com/films /34781/default.aspx is phenomenal. Drunk Joseph Cotten leaves Valli's apartment, you see a cat caressing some guy's ankles, Cotten makes noise, a window opens and the light hits Orson's wry moon face.Great show guys,Alex "
