"Good sugestions all. I'm glad someone pointed out Girl, Interupted. I really like that movie and don't get to talk about it enough. And thanks for reminding me of Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Also a movie that does not get enough play. I would like to add The Wrong Man by Hitchcock for it's visceral portrayal of incarceration. One FEELS locked up while watching it... This is Hitchcock confronting his greatest fear and though not his best film it is important to his work as a whole. As for awesome prison brakes I suggest Out of Sight. Not just a prison movie, but when you go back and look at it just shy of half of the movie takes place in prison. Prison is also the motivating factor for many of the characters. And it's so much fun. Finally, to make sure you have a smile on your face: Chicken Run! Along this theme you could also watch Creature Comforts as well and laugh and laugh and laugh! " [More]

"Mr. Pink - REN (from Ren & Stimpy) Opinionated & unlikeable. Plus Steve Buscemi sort of looks like a crazy chihuahua Ring the bell… we have a winner!!! That was fantastic! Ren as Mr. Pink… who won’t tip for his beloved Ice Cream Bar is awesome. You have made my day!!! I would also like to highlight all of the brilliant casting so far, particularly Mr. Blonde. Glenn Ford is a Great Idea! Patrick Swayze… I’m shuddering; it’s genius (although I would have gone with Working For the Weekend by Loverboy for the ear surgery scene soundtrack… I miss Chris Farley). John Cassavetes is dead on! James Coburn would be perfect. Gordon Pinsent as Joe Cabot!!! Nice. Hayden Christiansen as Young Cop… “I’d go over ten percent for that.” So many great ideas! Keep them coming. " [More]

"It's a great example! Here are some movies that could fit inbetween: The Revolution begins and is reported back to the states in Reds. Hitler, after signing an agreement to the contrary, starts to attack the U.S.S.R. The war does not go well at first: Enemy an the Gates, but the tide starts to turn: Ich War 19. Which leads to the occupation and eventually the GDR. I could go further but I think thats enough to lead up to The Lives of Others. " [More]
