"I've been struggling trying to come up with cohesive thoughts about how I truly felt about this movie... but I can only come up with concepts and adjectives... in a flurry, much like how this movie seems to flow. Tedious. Over-acted. Cheesy. Fast-paced. Over-dramatic. Goofy. I have to second JayMo... it was tiring. I'm not a huge fan of this genre, so I'm a hard sell anyhow. I kind of felt like I was watching a really bad theatre play where the actors were more concentrated on delivering the lines and timing off each other than actually conveying real dialogue. Blecch. "

Scott's a great Scrooge

"In this version of the classic, I think George C. Scott plays a fantastic version of the classic Dickens character of Scrooge. Sure, it's still not as much of a staple of my childhood like the Mickey Mouse or Muppets versions were - but it's enjoyable on another level. Gotta love the nice 80's special effects of the ghosts too. I really enjoyed the dramatic camera angles, but there's certainly a good share of cheese in there. Oh, and the biggest (and most obvious) takeaway from this version - when a tall, bearded, shirtless man in a velvet robe opens said robe up and asks you to take a look inside, you turn your head away... Visually interesting, but boring

"While I enjoyed the visuals and time-lapse video, the "movie" seemed to drag on a bit, and was more like a meditation video to me than anything else. I found myself fighting to stay awake throughout, and the rhytmic, repetitive music certainly didn't help. To me, it felt like a series of stock video footage, set to music, with a rather predictable message... nature good, technology bad, we're destroying ourselves, etc. The explosions were cool... but I'd recommend a nice long nap over this film. "As a designer, and a fan of graffiti and graffiti-style, I really enjoyed this documentary. It was very interesting to get a "behind the scenes" view of the mindsets behind the bombers and artists, and to see how the philosophies around the world vary. Like Kizmar mentioned, I don't think Reiss effectively made distictions within the culture enough... while he showed the many facets, it felt he lumped them all together. To me, there is clear distinction between actual urban street artists, bombers, gang taggers, and blatant vandalism. All said and done, I still think this was fantastic, and it was very intriguing for me to see the motivations of graffiti artists - especially in other countries. "

"
Who are these people? Who make these "Best movie of all time" lists? I reject their supposed expertise.
I concur... this was intensely awful... definitely not my genre, and I couldn't get into it at all. Not one stinking car chase. ;) "

"Definitely more of an amateurish feel than indie film... and while it had that vibe, it still shined. For a film with such a small budget, it was entertaining to see what Rodriguez managed to pull off. You could see several of his "trademark" cinematics in this, although not to the extent he pulls off in his higher-budget flicks. This was one of those films I've always wanted to see, but could never find the time or excuse to fit it in. I really enjoyed it, and it made me want to go out and get Desperados and Once Upon a Time in Mexico and watch them now.... "

"Quirky and fun... I enjoyed the many cameos and everyones' take on how the NY Times crossword puzzle plays a part in their lives. Such an interesting thing to tie lives together... I enjoyed this light-hearted documentary a lot - it put a smirk on my face may times, and provided me some fodder for mocking... in a good, constructive way, of course. "

"Growing up, I remember walking out of the room every time my dad would put on "another stupid old western movie" that would be playing on a Sunday afternoon. Needless to say, I've never been a fan of the genre of "old western movie." Honestly, I wasn't looking forward to this movie when it was decided as this week's pick... but surprisingly, I enjoyed it. I can see a lot of scenes and themes that other films have borrowed heavily from... and who can resist the cheese-tastic lines and horrible over-acting of the late fifties?? Blatant racial overtones and stereotypes make for many tongue-in-cheek groan moments as well. Definitely entertaining... glad I watched it! "

""I'm Not There" was quite an accurate title... as I felt I wasn't really there the whole two hours of this intensely tedious film. It was like a giant inside joke, and I spent the whole time trying to figure out the punchline, and left still not knowing it. I get there were a lot of layers in this movie, and a lot of symbolism, and a lot of big-name actors... but it fell short in actually delivering for me. Granted, I'm not a Bob Dylan fan, and perhaps I needed to know a lot more about him and his music going into this to actually understand what was going on... but truthfully, it failed on all levels for me. One Million Years B.C.
Campy Caveman Fun

"I know I can look deep into One Million Years B.C. (1966), and uncover hidden meanings and messages, and underlying themes... but the truth of it for me is this: I found it hilarious, campy/cheesy, yet enjoyable. The stop-motion dinosaurs and super-sized reptiles and bugs are absolutely cheestastic - think "Land of the Lost" meets "Clash of the Titans." The lack of actual dialogue forced me to focus on the visual imagery... and umm, body laguage... you know, of the... umm, cavemen and uh, cavewomen communicating... did I mention that Raquel Welsh was wonderful in this??? "While I found the plot to be a tad predictable at times, I could not help still being engaged in the budding tensions throughout. A tale of innocence and influence, This is England kept me engaged from beginning to end. The ending was a bit abrupt for me, and I felt myself longing for closure... but in true Indie fashion, there wasn't much (for me at least.) I found this film to be visually stimulating as well... there is such wonderful imagery and composition in the scenes, and it really helps tie the moods of the scenes in a coherent way. I kept thinking about this one for hours after I got done watching it, which is my personal indicator that I liked it. It's one I'd certainly watch again, even if it is to just enjoy the colorful UK dialects once more. "
