"1) Happy Go Lucky In response to my dad saying that he thought HGL's main character Poppy was irresponsible: "Well I thought she was really cool!"' 2) Man on Wire In response to me saying how riveting I thought it was: "I fell asleep half way through." 3) My Winnipeg "John, you don't think of me the same way Guy Maddin thinks of his mother, do you?" (My response: "No. I think of dad that way.") 4) Wall-E "Why did Pixar make Eve look like a... hygiene applicatior?" 5) The Wrestler "Only idiots use staples like that." and my favorite movie I saw in a revival house: Los Angeles Plays Itself "What? No Big Lebowski?!" "

"
Jon Hamm, he's got the presence, the build and the jawline to pull it off
Jon Hamm should play Superman, not Batman. "

"Just providing commentary on these entries: No offense, but some of these hypothetical castings are too obvious. I mean, Charlize Theron or Megan Fox or Trica Helfer as Catwoman? Quite frankly, I'd rather see someone like Olivia Williams or Samantha Morton play Catwoman than some 'super-hot' actress who will just feel out of place in Nolan's interpretation of Batman. And-- I bet Philip Seymour Hoffman would find it insulting if he were offered the role of The Penguin. I can just see the Warner Brothers execs now-- "well Phil, you're a great actor, and you have the right... physical presence to play The Penguin." Hoffman would turn them down cold. And as much as I like her, Zooey Deschanel as Harley Quinn is just too obvious and cute. If there's going to be Harley Quinn in Nolan's third Batman movie, she needs to be some f---ed up personality who gets inspired by the Joker and starts reeking havoc on her own time. And, even if this seems like I'm contradicting my previous ... "

"Because I want to ring this bell first, I have another re-casting. This time without a parallel universe context. RESEVOIR DOGS as 1940s/1950s B-movie Film Noir: The Mix-Up Starring: John Garfield as Mr. White Dana Andrews as Mr. Orange Lee Marvin as Mr. Blonde Lawrence Tierney as Nice Guy Eddie (basically, the actual Mr. Cabot gets demoted to be second-in-command). Timothy Carey as Mr. Pink Lee J. Cobb as Joe Cabot Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Brown (why? Because instead of Tarantino, I would like a hammy actor who I like watching to play Mr. Brown. But for the sake of political correctness, his name might have to be changed to something else.) John Carradine as Mr. Blue Elisha Cook Jr. as Young Cop (because he always gets the short end of the stick). Sam Fuller as K-Billy DJ (I would just love to hear how he sounds as a disc jockey). And my pick for an "inspirational ear-chopping tune"? "Sing Sing Sing" by Ben ... "

"Actually, to point out an error, the young cop was played by Kirk Baltz, not Lawrence Bender.
In honor of Heath Ledger's irreplaceable role as the Joker, we've picked the most difficult recasting game we could think of: recast Reservoir Dogs. Switching out Keitel or Buscemi is like putting on a new pair of shoes that are filled with swamp water. I don't even know exactly what that means, but the point is, it would feel really wrong. Harvey Keitel ... Mr. WhiteTim Roth ... Mr. OrangeMichael Madsen ... Mr. BlondeChris Penn ... Nice Guy EddieSteve Buscemi ... Mr. PinkLawrence Tierney ... Joe CabotQuentin Tarantino ... Mr. BrownEdward Bunker ... Mr. BlueLawrence Bender ... Young Cop (gets ear cut off)Steven Wright ... K-Billy DJ Extra points for replacing "Stuck in the Middle With You ... "

"Can I make a revision to my recasting? I want to switch out Clint Eastwood as Neo with Robert DeNiro as Neo. That would be better. "

"Enter the Matrix- a late 60s/early 70s extravaganza In a parallel universe, the Wachowski Brothers are born twenty-five years earlier, which makes their period of success overlap the 60s and 70s. After the success of THE BOUND (1968), a Godard-inspired heist movie that they wrote (which has as an interesting if not peculiar lesbian subtext), the Wachowskis shop around their latest script ENTER THE MATRIX, a sci-fi action adventure film that's way ahead of its time. Most studios pass on it, except for the struggling Paramount Studios, which, like in our universe, is run by an inexperienced Robert Evans. Hungry for a hit to appeal to the counter-cultural youth market, Evans sees potential in ENTER THE MATRIX and its decidedly anti-establishment message. He buys it. Initially, the Wachowskis lobby to direct their script as a duo, but Evans balks at the idea, claiming that brothers only make screenwriting duos but not directing duos. Instead, Evans pulls Francis Ford Coppola off of ... "
