 "Since I just discovered The French Connection (1971) and was absolutely blown away by it I had to revisit Sorcerer (1977) and other William Friedkin material. Sorcerer delivers in much the same was as FC due to its rawness and documentary feel. If you liked There Will Be Blood (2007), which features "men doing things with their hands," you will like this film. It also involves the oil business interestingly enough. Its about four sympathetic criminals from across the globe that meet for a mission impossible. It is gripping and has no cathartic ending. FC had its famous car/train chase. Sorcerer has a similarly unforgetable sequence involving trucks and a bridge. I am well into a 70s blitz that will continue for some time. Cue Sorcerer up! "The Exorcist (1973) Sorcerer (1977) I saw The Exorcist for the first time when I was about 7 years old. This wasn't the theatrical version - it was @1976 at the time - but a Sunday-night network televised version. I had no idea what was on TV. and merely had chanced at this film without knowing a thing about the movie either. I was alone and I remember being so terrified I could not move and I had this really hard swallow. I wanted my parents to come downstairs but I would be afraid of ANY movement in the room other than from me. I will never forget the specific lighting in the den that night - it perfectly complemented the terror I was experiencing. Friedkin got me again when I was taken to see The Sorcerer the year it came out. My parents had made a mistake. I think its PG or PG-13 now but it’s my first film experience of people burning alive.
