"Have you ever seen Nora’s Hair Salon? I watched an advanced copy of Nora’s Hair Salon 2 and thought is was decent. It is being released on dvd by Twentieth Century Fox next week and should do well…especially with the people who liked the first movie. The salon is now owned by two cousins because it had been willed to them by the late Nora. Lillian (Tatyana Ali) wants to keep the salon while her cousin Simone (Stacey Dash) wants to sell the shop and distance herself from the business. The two battle each others ideology and are forced to find their own inner peace. The cast of characters are quirky and deliver sufficient performances. Tatyana Ali (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) is the level headed Lilliana. Stacey Dash (Clueless) plays the nasty self-centered Simone. Bobby Brown (R&B Performer) plays Old Man Butter the love interest of Simone. Nora’s Hair Salon 2 is a light-hearted comedy that is entertaining. The film is predictable yet it m ... " [More]

"I got a chance to preview the upcoming drama A Good Man is Hard to Find by director Leslie Small. The film is based on the stage play of the same name written by Rev. David Payton. The play was highly successful (grossed 25 million) and ran for seven consecutive years during the early 90’s. The movie was first-rate and should do quite well given the fact that it has a potential audience that is familiar with story given the success of the play. It is the story of three women facing challenges, crises, and torment in their personal relationships. Each must conquer personal problems, defy temptation, and endure bad choices so they can obtain or keep-- A Good Man. Golden Brooks (Girlfriend, Something New, Beauty Shop), Darrin Dewitt Henson (Stomp the Yard), Hill Harper (CSI: NY), Melissa De Sousa (One on One), and Deborah Cox (R&B performer) lead the cast in this stirring gospel-shaded drama. The film examines the deterioration of African-American family and the c ... " [More]

"Wow! I just finished watching a preview copy of the new suspense/drama Cover by director Bill Duke and it was great. The film seemed like it was going to have a routine, predictable, storyline but it DOESN’T. In the middle of the movie there is such a powerful twist that the viewer is left dazed. The film had a limited theatrical release (2 weeks in 28 theaters) and I wonder why it did not stay in theaters longer. Without revealing too much of the story as to cause spoilers…a family relocates from Atlanta to a wealth community of Philadelphia. The family quickly settles into life in their new city. The loving wife becomes the prime suspect in a New Year’s Eve shooting. Is she or isn’t she the killer? That question is answered in this shocking murder mystery. Aunjanue Ellis (Brother to Brother) delivers a powerful performance as Valerie Maas the accused killer. Razaaq Adoti (Black Hawk Down, Doom, Resident Evil Apocalypse) does an astonishing jo ...
