"Sometimes selling video games is more fun then playing them."
Personal statement:

How do you make a film with 2500 dollars in nine days? You do it because you don't have a choice. Nine days was all the time I could take off from work. $2500 was all the money we could raise at the time. But, it was now or never and we went for it. Thanks to 20 years of experience in running live shows, learning to make due with what you have and thanks to a lot of good people donating their time and talents while believing in the pursuit of a dream. This dream became reality.
Game Over as it is today is not exactly what the original vision was, I planned on having a budget of $20,000 and at least one name for the film. Despite this, I am quite proud of what we have done.
our film stands defiantly.  So many people laughed in our faces or told us it could never be done, but ultimately what they tell us when we are children is true . You can be anything you want to be, has long as you believe in yourself. Yes I am still a clerk in a game store but now I am a also a filmmaker.
Game Over is not an epic masterpiece in the traditional sense, nor is it for everyone.  It is a humorous, sometimes lowbrow look at the life of a game store clerk and retail in general.  I hope that there is something that the audience can identify with on many different levels. Things that get them to laugh, and perhaps take them away for at least for an hour and 26 minutes. Some may be amused. Some may be disgusted.  At the very least, you will be moved and to me, that is what movies are all about.
To quote one of my favorite movies: "I have something to say!... It's better to burn out, than to fade away".

New Project
By Ungowa in Game Over The Group
"So the other day I am in the shower , pondering as well as washing. And I was thinking about all I learned from shooting Game Over when I realized that some where along the way I kinda lost focus on the original vision that was Game Over. Granted that was easy to do, our very first project, no money to keep things going,...blah blah blah. We were also really worried about it being feature length and not being a short to prove we could do a feature. I was suddenly possessed with a desire to do a project that served inspiration. A project thats soul purpose was to tell one story and tell it well to the best of my ability. It doesn't matter how long it is or how short it is. Just that it works. I am taking everything else out of the equation, There is no budget. I will have to use things I already have access to. There will be no deadline. We will do it till it is right. There is no pressure. This is not for sale I will post it free for everyone to see. So the script is written, ... " [More]

"I would send El Farto to pick you up but he is suffering from a case of rickets he caught from a stank poon down on 61st street. Larry
Good luck this weekend! Wish I could be there. I had my costume all ready (roll of toilet paper) but my parole officer won't let me hitchhike to Texas.

Re:Advice anyone?
By Ungowa in Filmmakers Forum
"
Hello. I'm trying to talk myself out of the film student thing; only doing it at a county college level at present. I am dumb enough to be thinking of blowing some money I have saved on equipment, and i was hoping for some suggestions. Four somewhat rambly questions. have become quite taken with the Canon GL2, but can't afford one. Knowing I'll have to go consumer grade, can anybody recommend under $500 camera equipment? In theory this would be for my own tiny-ass "indy" (read: homemade bullshit) projects, so I'd need more than just point & shoot birthday party camcorder here; decent picture and sound and adjustability of aperture and shutters are key. Any sound equipment recommendations? Capture decks/cards?I don't love mini-DV tape but am used to it; is there a big quality comedown shooting onto mini-discs or memory cards? If I have to resort to blue screen, what material in what hue works best?I'm probably going to "acquire" in some fa ... Re:Movies about the future
By Ungowa in sci-fi
"
Isn't it hilarious when old movies take place in the not so distant future of 2008 and it's this weird messed up world filled with people wearing clothes mostly made out of rubber and pleather? I was trying to come up with a list, but am mostly blanking right now. Was Judge Dredd one? or maybe it was Robocop. Anyway, what are a few of your favorite movies or scenes that take place in the future? Also (sub question), any cool future gadgets? I was really amazed by the microwave in Back to the Future II that made a little thing into a huge, hot pizza. I was convinced we would have those by now.
Gee What I would not give for a time machine! I sure would like to correct some mistakes! But if not a Time Machine how about a Transporter? Beats the hell out of sitting in traffic or on planes " [More]

"
Two lists are being created for SpoutBlog this week (10/20/08): Video Games That Should Be Movies High School Horror Stories (think teen movies and horror movies getting it on in the back of dad's sedan) Got any top 5's for those two categories? Things you lost for love of the ...
By Ungowa in Game Over The Group
"So during the life of our film Game Over: The Secret Life of Game Store Clerks (2008) I lost 2 girlfriends, Both of them laid down the choice... " You choose right now, your movie or me!" I let a truck I had been paying on for a couple of years go back. I lost a job, I didnt really care at the time because I was shooting a movie buddy! and have since been through a series of vehicles (none of which I paid more than $500 for) that ranged from a 1991 Jaguar to a 1986 Dodge Aclaim! And every paycheck I get I continue to send out more screener's and enter more festivals. Never give up, never give in, and never surrender! How bout you? Any one else out there battle damaged? L. Zombie Rocks!

"The thing I like about Rob Zombie is he is doing this because he wants to. He doesn't need the money, he has a fan base and lets face it, making movies is one of the hardest thing you can put yourself through. Rob does this because he has a passion for it. Nothing is better than taking a journey with a filmmaker that is there purely to share the experience with you. I must admit when I went in to watch this remake I had my doubts, but within minutes I was swept up by the great characters and could not wait to see this new side of a story I thought I already new. Rob really seems to be able to connect with his actors and together they reach levels of intense emotion and a sense of realism that puts you right there in the moment. Sherri Moon Zombie kicked ass in what may be one of her finest moments to date as young Michael's mom. We got to see a new side of her that showed she can really go to those dark places. It would have been real easy to have the audience sympathizing with yo ... " [More]
