"I'm doing some research on horror movies that have ties to Virginia, especially the Richmond area. Anyone know anything about the horror scene, famous horror settings, famous actors from the area. Anything? "

"In the mid-2010s, the most important technological breakthrough since the invention of sound hits Hollywood. In a feat nobody thought possible, recent advances in both computer generated animation and artificial intelligence have come together to actually make it possible to reanimate the great cinema characters from the past 100 years, and program them to flawlessly interact with other reanimated characters in order to create completely new performances in original new material. Early attempts are no doubt crude, but in 2024, a remake of Ghostbusters, as acted out cinema history’s greatest clowns, including Chaplin, Keaton, Laurel and Hardy, and a young Eddie Murphy, sweeps all Oscar categories – with the obvious exception of acting categories (which has been abolished due to lack of demand for new talent). Not having a critical or commercial success in 20 years, a 60 year-old Quintin Tarintino decides he’s going to remake Reservoir Dogs starring his favorite cin ... "

"If you're going to go through the trouble of remaking The Matrix, why wouldn't you make it a musical? Better yet, a Baz Luhrmann musical spectacular that makes Moulin Rouge look like a quaint summer stock production of Sunday in the Park with George? Bigger, badder, and with a beat anyone can dance to... The Matrix Is Gonna Get You Robert Downy Jr. ... Neo Russell Crowe ... Morpheus Catherine Zeta Jones... Trinity Eddie Izzard ... Agent Smith Madonna ... Oracle John Leguizamo... Cypher Common ... Tank Jack White ... Apoc Chris Brown... Mouse Milla Jovovich ... Switch Iggy Pop ... Dozer Jonathan Rhys-Myer ... Agent Brown Jamie Campbell Bower ... Agent Jones "

"[quote user="SkyPilot"] After the box office failure of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Christopher Nolan is brought in to reboot of the series. Nolan and executive producer Paul Greengrass work furiously to create a modern, edgy, and hyper-kenetic version where Indiana is a rogue Englishman, joining his estranged American ex, to battle the Nazis. Clive Owen … Indiana Jones Amy Ryan … Marion Ravenwod Hugh Jackman … Dr. Rene Belloq Robin Williams, with Nolan insisting he can recapture his One Hour Photo/Insomnia-era creepiness … Major Arnold Toht, "The Melting Nazi" Oliver Platt … Sallah Jim Broadbent … Dr. Marcus Brody Cillian Murphy … Satipo Ulrich Matthes (Goebbels in Downfall) … Colonel Dietrich David Bowie … ... Movie Soundtracks
"Scorsese is the master of this, and there are two that come to mind... Goodfellas - Henry Hill is just a normal shlub and his swan song, Sid Vicious' version of Sinatra's 'My Way' - the entire movie summed up in a song - brilliant. The Departed - As a Bostonian, there couldn't possibly be a better opening credit anthem than the Dropkick Murphy's 'I'm Shipping Up To Boston' "

Movie Soundtracks
"1. Velvet Goldmine - Classic case of a fantastic soundtrack making a good movie great... Vintage Brian Eno, Roxy Music and Lou Reed mixed with fantastic covers by Shudder to Think, Placebo and a dead-on Stooges cover by Ewan McGreggor. 2. Amateur - Hal Hartley is known for creating a lot of the music for his own movies, but this gem from the mid-1990s is who's who of that decade's indie rock: My Bloody Valentine, PJ Harvey, Pavement, Liz Phair, Bettie Severt, Jesus Lizard, Red House Painters and Yo La Tango. 3. Dream with the Fishes - Little seen indie flick from the 90s with mostly little known singer-songwriter types: Nick Drake (pre-VW ad exposure), Jeremy Toback, Greg Brown, Grandaddy, Ween and a classical Waterboys tune. Very solid, satisfying album. 4. Dazed and Confused - Has there ever been a better collection of 70's super-rock? 5. Purple Rain - Much, much more than a soundtrack, one of the greatest albums ever made. "

"It seems unfair a penalize actors who have reach a level of fame, at least in part because they are very good at what they do, because its impossible not to be oversaturated with the details about the celebrity's personal lives. Celebrity gossip is as old as film itself, but it has reach a whole new level with youtube, tmz.com, and the rest of the internet. I can certainly understand being sick of certain personalities, but the question is how much can that be blamed on these actors, and how much of it is our fault for being too interested? "

"1. Dawn of the Dead - When the world literally goes to hell, a group of survivors must fight zombies and the other evils of consumerism and society in a desserted shopping mall. Why a shopping mall? The living dead gravitate to the one place that was important in their lives. 2. A Clockwork Orange - Sometimes you have to fight to be yourself. Even if yourself is a murderous hateful punk.3. Night of the Hunter - The innocent vs. evil in the guise of religion. 4. Paradise Lost - The West Memphis Three, very clearly falsely occused by a hypocritical and sactamonious society.5. Do The Right Thing - Everybody's fighting against something or someone, but nobodys really right or wrong. But Chuck D says it all. "
