Antibodies - Review

"Owing in large part to tomes of modern serial-killer lore as The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en, Antibodies attempts to weave a twisted epilogue to such tales of woe in a visually alluring, yet bemusedly hackneyed way. Featuring a murderer with a stare that will produce nightmares in the most thick-skinned of horror fanatics, the film follows the events after his capture and the mysterious circumstances around a police inquiry into one of his victims. A slew of plot twists keep the dramatic tension palpable without flirting too much with the unbearably implausible - all leading to a barrage of revelations that will keep you guessing till the closing credits. Re: Italian Horror....
By mercurial in HORROR MOVIES 101
"I can't believe nobody has mentioned Pier Paolo Pasolini. Surprisingly the only Italian director that I own and whose movies I have watched and loved, Pasolini definitely belongs among the list of great Italian horror directors. Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom, remains the only film that has actually made me lose the contents of my stomach (not a lot, just a little in my mouth). The insane nature of the subject matter goes above and beyond pretty much anything I have ever seen. If you haven't seen it, you definitely have to check it out. " [More]

Visioneers

"I flabbergasted by the trailer for Visioneers. Summoning notions of Paul Thomas Anderson, Office Space and Joe vs. the Volcano, I'm definitely gonna check this one out. http://www.visioneersthemovie. com/VisioneersTrailer.mov " [More]

Re:The Scavenger Hunt: Thumbs u ...

"
Well I don't think the point of it was to make it be challenging, but it was more of a tutorial to introduce newbies to all of the features of Spout. Am I right or wrong?
Yeah you're right. It was a fun, easy way to get new members to explore Spout. As for suggestions for future incentives, I think an intense, hardcore version would be a lot of fun for current members who already know and love the site and want a fun little distraction from the norm. Re:The Scavenger Hunt: Thumbs u ...

"
So, we launched a fun little scavenger hunt contest on Spout last week and I wanted to know what ya'll thought about it. Did you do it? Why or why not? If you did, what did you like? dislike? Etc. Any ideas for similar kinds of activities on Spout? You can play it here if you haven't seen it yet.
Yeah, I thought it was a lot of fun. I'm already obsessed with Spout and it gave me something more to do than scour movies, groups and the usual whatnot. Next time, make something a little more difficult. Since the majority of people on Spout have seen a significant amount of movies and spend a decent amount of time around them, go all out and create something scary hard that will be more challenging for us cinephiles. Green Porno - Review
By mercurial in a filmblog
Was this review helpful? [Be the first to tell us!]
"A series of eight short films, Green Porno is a hilarious entomological undertaking by Isabella Rossallini for the Sundance Channel. Asking herself "If I were an earthworm / dragonfly / bee / firefly / snail / spider / fly / praying mantis," the bizarre world of insect mating habits is unleashed upon the viewer in scatalogically graphic and linguistically blunt ways that every kindergarten teacher obsessed with David Lynch would be envious of. Succinct and loaded with laughs, Green Porno is definitely worth the few minutes it'll take to watch. Watch Green Porno @ Sundance " [More]
Teeth - Review

"Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the . . . wait, wrong movie. Or is it? Teeth, or The Life and Times of an Ultra-Modern Feminist Superhero, follows Dawn on the perilous journey into womanhood and the dangers that lurk in a person's naughty places. The product of natural selection, nuclear fallout or good 'ol fashioned incest, the origins of Dawn's new powers remain a mystery, but one thing is for certain, with great power comes great . . . nope, wrong movie again. Struggling with her newfound power, Dawn must face the plethora of evil villains (mainly erections and curious fingers) that threaten to destroy the sanctity of her vajayjay. Both hilarious and frightening, Teeth embraces its schlocky B-movie roots and shines its pearly whites for the whole world to enjoy and simultaneously recoil in fear. " [More]

Re:Criterion Goes To Blu-Ray
By mercurial in Criterion Collection
"
That's some good news...now do you know if this means they'll still come out on regular DVD though? Because I saw somewhere a while back that Bottle Rocket was coming out in Criterion, so I've been holding out to buy that. But if I don't have a Blu-Ray player by that time, I'd probably just get the regular. This seems like it's going to be a huge step for Criterion...
I assume that they will keep putting out regular DVDs until the market has made a big jump into only releasing Blu-Ray. " [More]
Wolverine and the X-Men
By mercurial in Trailer Park
"I was blown away by the trailer for the Wolverine and the X-Men series that's going to be airing on television this Fall. It's everything and more the third installment of the X-Men movies (X-Men: The Last Stand) should have been and brings back all those feelings of murderous rage towards Brett Ratner for screwing it up. Oliver Stone

"The first images from Oliver Stone's new film W are now circulating the internet and my curiosity has officially been piqued. Oliver definitely loves dissecting U.S. presidents. Some are saying he has gone crazy, others that he's been crazy. I think he's nearing genius. Thoughts? " [More]

Re:Speed Racer
By mercurial in Trailer Park
"
I actually kind of just felt like that seeing the Speed Racer trailers. Maybe not to quite the same full extent, but I feel like this is a movie I have to see in the theater!
Definitely one to watch in the theaters. I might even break my IMAX cherry and see it there. Christina Ricci on the BIG big screen: oh yeah. " [More]
