From Asia With Love
"Cool guys.Last semester I completed a course called "Japanese Literature in Film" and read the comprehensive book of Japanese cinema called 100 Years of Japanese Film by Donald Richie. I started to really get into the films there, so I've been obsessing over a first movie to share to everyone. So, I added my personal favorite to the list. It's an incredible drama called Nobody Knows by Kore Eda, based on a Japanese new story from the mid-eighties. The plot is about four kids abdandoned by their mother to live by themselves in a Tokyo apartment. It's a must see, a tear jerker, and amazing at the same time.I'll be adding many more in the coming weeks.Best,Evangelo "

"My friends and I were at a Blockbuster the summer before last looking for a good foreign movie to check out. Coming out of The Five Obstructions (which I loved), we were looking for anything that wouldn't make us feel so bad. Then found Six Strong Guys. Now, before seeing this film, I was entirely unfamilar with the work of Chun-Chun Wong and even to this day, I still don't know it well. Eh. He seems to only have made this film in the last couple of years, so it's not worth mentioning. So we settled in, turned on the film with absolutely no expectations and were entirely pleased. Starting off with a failed suicide attempt, the film easily moves through a stream of 6 (7 including one character's wife's) life stories. Many parts are clearly Chinese humor and language jokes, but we laughed a long as well. The ending comes incredibly quickly, and makes no sense, but is a good time regardless. If you're looking for something wild, check out Six Stong Guys. "

"I just got this Spout thing and I think I'm going to love it. I've been in love with film almost all of my live, but have made very little attempts to learn and be active in it up until recently when I started to come to film school. It's a difficult thing being a film major, and knowing that you're always bombarded with movies to see, ones you've heard of in passing, and things you saw and just want to warn other people about (which I've seen plenty of).So this is where I will share all my knowledge and love of film with everyone in the world. It's about time I did it, and this seems like the place to bring people together to talk about film. Best,Evangelo "

"I'd love ot see Atlas Shrugged done right. I know Angelina Jolie is attached to it, but I honestly think she could play Dagny Taggart.Besides that. if The Giver was put to screen with Michael Caine as the lead, I would glady drop $10 to see it. "
