No Help At All...
It was nearly a year ago (11 months) since I posted a plea for help in this group and received absolutely no help at all. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. Not even the slightest crumb of evidence that might help point me in the right direction. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately) , I happen to know the guy who started this group so I will complain to your CEO directly... Mr. Puhnner, it has been 20+ years and I am STILL searching for the R-rated version of Ralph Bakshi's Wizards ! I KNOW it exists because I've SEEN it! More than once! It is the original theatrical version! The only version that I have been able to find on tape or disc is a re-edited PG version that is missing some of the more graphic violence and a fairly graphic 'sex scene' between the wizard Avatar and the 'Rubinesque' little fairy girl... Can ANYONE help me find the original version of this cool movie?

Re:No Help At All...
this is what I have so far from quazi reliable source Wikipedia although nothing of a R Rating: 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment had long neglected to put the feature out on DVD until an online petition created by Animation on DVD.com and written by Keith Finch demanding the film's release on DVD was brought to their attention, influencing them to release the film in the format.[1][2][9] The disc, released on May 25, 2004, featured an audio commentary track by Bakshi and the segment Ralph Bakshi: The Wizard of Animation, in which Bakshi talked about the film against a black screen as various rare production photos and clips from the film are shown throughout. the search continues...

Re:No Help At All...
Thanks, Puhn! I greatly appreciate your assistance in helping me look for this lost classic. I will pass on the gift certificate, however, because I don't eat at Hardee's and I can't stand yams. Also, I don't like jail. I am beginning to think that I have lost my mind (actually, a lot of people think that...) in that there is no mention of the R-rated version of this film even on IMDB. I KNOW that the version of this movie I saw more than once in the theater during it's initial release WAS rated R and DID contain the missing scenes mentioned above! I also know that I cannot be the only one who remembers this as there were other people in the theater as well! Could it be possible that nobody bothered to save the original version of this film after it was re-edited? Could it be that nobody will ever see the original version again? I am beginning to think that might be the case. Anyway, my search shall continue... Thanks again for your help. Your friend, Gor

Re:No Help At All...
Dear Dr. I looked at IMDb too. What was interesting was listing of 2 runtimes for the film, the first Argentina (WTF???) 82 minutes, which is 2 minutes longer than the USA version @ 80. There is no way that 2 minutes is long enough for a juicy sex scene with a fairy...is it? puhn

I overlooked that detail. Why, yes, Mr. Puhnner, those 2 minutes can make all the difference in a film! Two minutes is a long time, not only in the movies but in real life as well! Just try watching your watch for 2 minutes... I never said that the sex scene was lengthy, only fairly graphic.... as I remember, it was like this... The Wizard, Avatar, is lying prone with his robe pulled up above his waist (I believe his is wearing his pointy hat as well) and the Fairy-girl is on top, nude, and bouncing up and down... or 'riding him like a pony', as they say... when two of the Elves come in and interupt them. A classic case of 'coitus interuptus' (Doctor, remember?)... I think the whole scene is less than a minute in length, maybe 40 seconds or so... then, if you add in a few seconds of graphic violence here and there over the course of the movie, I think you may have found it! Also, this Argentinian version is rated NC-16, which I believe means No Children under 16... very similar to our R rating! Now, I wonder if I can obtain this Argentinian version... My quest continues...

lots of torrents of the film available, of different sizes. some seem to be rated R - the german version on Pirate Bay, for example.

well, you download something like BitComet (free) and then click on download for the torrent (free at PirateBay, for example) and after a wait (can take a loonnngggg time) you get an avi of the movie on your harddisk, and play it with VLC (free). i think that any pc that can read this can do that and there is no cost. just sayin.
