Let Sleeping Corpses Lie

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie made in 1974 - directed by Jorge Grau
(it has had a lot of movie titles and I couldn't find any of them listed on Spout:  Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti, The Living Dead of Manchester Morgue, Breakfast at the Manchester Morgue
Do Not Speak Ill of the Dead (International: English title) (literal title)
Don't Open the Window (USA)
Fin de semana para los muertos (Spain) (working title)
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (USA)
No profanar el sueño de los muertos (Spain)
No se debe profanar el sueño de los muertos (Spain) (informal title)
Sleeping Corpses Lie
The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (UK)
Zombi 3 (Da dove vieni?) (Italy)

This was a pretty good older movie.  I was totally expecting a bad B movie but was pleasantly surprised.   The cinematography was really pretty for a 1970s movie.  It was also very creepy and had a good story behind it.  I thought the acting was good because I really wanted that police detective to be someone’s lunch.  Has anyone else seen this movie?  What did you think?

Here is a little synopsis:

Brought about by the use of a new, radiation emitting device intended to destroy insect's nervous systems, the dead are brought back to life due to the jump start the radiation provides to their nervous systems. After the murder of a woman's estranged husband, police suspect the woman, her sister and a relative stranger (who was only along because the sister had run into his motorcycle only hours prior) of involvement in the murder, and as the bodies begin to accumulate the police chief becomes more and more convinced of their involvement.

Here are some memorable quotes from the movie:

The Inspector: I wish the dead could come back to life, you bastard, so then I could kill you again.

A couple more quotes that got cut off:

George: The dead don't walk around, except in very bad paperback novels!

The Inspector: You're all the same the lot of you, with your long hair and faggy clothes. Drugs, sex, every sort of filth!

Yes,   Let Sleeping Corpses Lie  is a good one!   What I particularly liked was the comic-book storyline that looked like it could have come straight out of the pages of a 1960's American horror comic like Tales From The Crypt or Vault of Horror.   'George' was a very likable hero and 'the inspector' was a deliciously despicable anti-hero.   This is one of those rare movies that have you cheering for the zombie at the end!   (Romero's  Day Of The Dead  was another one) ...    Beautiful photography and decent acting (for an Italian/Spanish coproduction) help to make this one highly watchable.   While the gore effects are relatively few and far between, they are quite impressive with the hi-light being the hospital receptionist being ripped to shreds...   These effects are expertly handled by Giannetto De Rossi who would later go on to work with Lucio Fulci on such masterpieces as  Zombie  and  The Beyond  and  House By The Cemetary  as well as such American fare as  Conan The Destroyer  and  Rambo III !   A great early zombie gem that was the inspiration for many films to follow!

I just saw this on a blog; It is an online interactive movie; I have not gone through it yet, but it looked interesting. I apologize for placing this within this discussion...

I believe there was a zombie baby in this movie.  That was more than neat!
