Awful actors that never fail to disappoint (and delight) us...
As the snow has started to fly here in frigid Michigan, I've been holed up watching some pretty awful movies on late night and weekend TV. I've been noticing a lot of the same faces across the screen, so I have a theory that there are quite a few actors out there who can always be depended on for a terribley cheesey and therefore terribly awesome performance.
Any favorites?
I'm going to kick it off with a few I made mental notes of from my recent watching.
- Ryan Reynolds (he just annoys me)
- Anna Faris (who couldn't act her way out of a paper bag, but we love her for it)
- Chi McBride (he actually usually has a good role and acts it well, but seems to be boxed into playing the same character in some pretty crappy films)
- David Koechner (Champ, assorted retail managers in various fims, etc)

How about Jackie Chan? He's pretty bad, but we all love him anyway because he's got a good sense of humor and his kung fu is good. :)
Actually most martial artist actors are pretty bad, but I enjoy watching those movies because they are good clean fun.

Martial Arts movies do make for some tremendously terrible/awesome films. I think Kung Pow: Enter the Fist did a great job of highlighting this... it was so terrible and campy that it almost seemed like a real 70's Kung Fu flick... not to mention half of the film was actually original footage from a classic Kung Fu flick...
Jet Li is another one in this category, especially if you look at his early work. He rarely spoke, even in his native films (he is supposedly very shy and nervous about acting) but despite this was cast in scores of campy and bloody martial arts flicks. Who needs words when you can tear the throats out of 30 guys at once and then beat them to death with their own arms?

I find that the worst actors are usually cross over musicians and singers, I give you:
Britney Spears

Thats such a given and so irrefutable I may have to disqualify musicians-turned-actors from this thread! It almost seems unfair to the terrible just-plain-actors.

They were both in My Boss's Daughter also with David Koechner

I present for your consideration: Ben Murphy. From his acting profile, I quoute:
After Smith and Jones left the air, Murphy tried his luck with feature films, with results ranging from the tolerable to the tepid: Heat Wave (1974), Sidecar Racers (1975) and Time Walker (1982) were typical titles in the Murphy manifest. He periodically returned to television, where work was more satisfying if not more secure.
As a shining example of the depths his work sunk to, I highly recommend watching Riding with Death (1976), a shining example of the mid-seventies-oil-crisis-government-terrorist-plot films, with a horrendously over confident Ben Murphy playing a suave truck driver and government op that can turn invisible at any moment. The MST3k viewing was hilarious, and sadly didn't detract from the film in any way.
