Weekly Theme for November 17: In The Nude

This one's for you Dr. Gor. Strait from the suggestion box, we're talking about nude scenes. What is your favorite scene? As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't get any better than Selma Hayek!!!! Seeing her in all in all of her naked glory in Frida and  Ask the Dust was the closest thing to a religious experience I've ever had. In fact, I would go as far to say that her and her gloriousness have thus far proven the existence of God.

Allright, I really don't know what else to say about this one, but I am very interested in seeing what the rest of y'all say.

Oh yeah... Angelina Jolie in the director's cut of Taking Lives gets an honorable mention. Keep those suggestions coming.

So are you saying you feel that Selma Hayek's beauty is a case for the existence of God? Fascinating.

I once tried to read a book by this guy named Neitsche or something, and he said a lot of things, but I remember he had some weird idea about the universe existing purely for aesthetic beauty. (or something like that, which I thought was interested, but I was doubtful I understood what he was writing)

Anyway, this particular weekly theme is a tad risque, but I won't shy away. As I get older I find most nudity in film to be sort of a fan service if you will. Unnecessary, but no one really minds. Yet I think there are some films that use the nude body, and in some cases sexual scenes to make an interesting point, or to convey a unique aspect about the world, or the characters in the film.

Sadly I'm drawing a bit of a blank on this one, but for some reason I want to say that the sex scene in Magnolia (the one with Tom Cruise who is the egomaniacal sex maniac) was probably one of those scenes. I can't really say it was erotic because it was fairly repulsive, but at the same time I think it helped me to understand Cruise's character in a way that I never would have otherwise.

I don't recall any sex scenes in Magnolia. I know there was that scary moment when Tom Cruise is jumping around making crude gestures in his underpants, but sex scene, nope.

   Wow.   Thank you very much, leeroy!   Actually, I have never seen Salma Hayek or Angelina Jolie nude in a movie...  I would like to! ...  I have added those that you mentioned to my list...

   There is a discussion in my Horror Movies group titled  "This Is Interesting" in which the subject of Salma Hayek was just brought up.   She won... I guess because so far I am the only one who has voted...

   Yeah.   What kind of 'Pandora's Box' did you just open?    I could list a hundred or more movies in here with some GREAT female nudity...   where to begin?    Here are some names to ponder...   Linnea Quigley, MELLISA MOORE, Brink Stevens, NASTASSJA KINSKI, Ingrid Pitt, MISTY MUNDAE, LINDA BLAIR, ELVIRA...

Selma Hayek's naked in Desperado for an infuriatingly fragmented scene with what's his name...Banderas.  It takes some strategic pausing for this one (Mercurial, that was perfect).  Angelina Jolie also has the pleasure of having a similar scene with what's his name in Original Sin, a movie that is worth watching solely for that scene.  AWESOME.

I don't recall any sex scenes in Magnolia. I know there was that scary moment when Tom Cruise is jumping around making crude gestures in his underpants, but sex scene, nope.

Watch it again then. It's Cruise's character's father and I want to say his character's stepmother, or maybe just his dad's mistress, can't remember.
