The Weekly Theme Suggestion Box

What would you guys like to see covered. I haven't run out of ideas yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Surely the best way to ensure a high level of class participation is to ask you (the class) what you would like to talk about.

So, if there's some type of film that you cling to more than anything else, put it in the box. If there's a particular backdrop or philosophical viewpoint that you love to see portrayed on the big screen? Drop it in the box.

I would also like to take this oppurtunity to thank everyone that's contributed thus far. By my count, we are on our 12th week and we've been able to maintain a pretty high level of participation. Keep up the good work.

How about  Best Nude Scenes/Nudity?   I have a discussion in our Horror Movies group called "Horror Nudity" (or something like that) that sort of petered out. (no pun intended).   I have been meaning to get that thing revved up again when I can find the time.   I can think of SEVERAL non-horror films that have some great nudity (I AM a 'Doctor'!).   Just a thought.

Re:The Weekly Theme Suggestion Box

I was thinking that it would be cool to see people come up with movies featuring old folks in the leading role. Something like Retirement home escapees. Let's see how many Harold and Maude fans we have.

Also somewhere I think I mentioned something like Under the eye of Big Brother. It would be a sorta of interesting counter-point to the elections.

That would be like a "Geriatric" theme. Yeah Big Brother would be like "Fascist" theme.

My Suggestions:

Weird Asian Sci-Fi (like Guyver or something)

Bad Biker Gang Films

Movies I've Heard Are Good (But I've never watched)

Movies I was told are good, but I thought they sucked.

Films Celebrating Geekiness

Films Celebrating Rednecks

Films Celebrating Drug Abuse

Films Celebrating Excessive Violence

How about...

Great Moments in Costume Fabric

Table Service: Silverware in Cinema

The Kathleen Turner Filmograpy

I Spy a Clump of Hair

The Movie Camera: Cinema's Best Friend

That's a Moray (Eel)!

Seeds, Pits, and Roots

The Bright Side of Punctuality

I Wanted to Scream "Just Caulk the Wagon and Float Across!"

Prosthetics: Pros and Cons

Wood on Fire

Great Moments In Losing Something, Then Finding It In the Davenport

Nature vs. Neuter

Being and Time

lol   sorry for abusing this thread Leeroy and Merc. This group is great and this suggestion box was a good idea.

While I was trying to think of utterly uninteresting or useless topics, I came up with some that actually interested me a little. Here are two examples:

The Relationship Between (1) Someone's Journaling Activities and (2) How Much Fun They're Having

I Ate __(food)___ While Watching __(movie)___

Re:The Weekly Theme Suggestion Box

How about a thread about the manly of movies ever made?  Like beer, tits, chicken, and subtlely gay masochism.  So, basically anything on Spike.  (Har har har)  I like the idea of a thread all about drug movies, I already forget who came up with that though so I can't "quote" them.  But I give them kudos.

Or what about movies with illuminati symbolism? (Or will we all get injected with chloroform and cremated in a ritualistic sex-burial orgy?)

You could, of course, think of the most random topics you can think of and make them the theme, because that would be fun as shit.  Like "movies with frying pans in them" or "films in which the f-word is used abrasively in a restaraunt scene."  That would be fun AND time-consuming, which are what I usually look for when I post on Spout groups (but I'm also inherently lazy, so it's not very often that I venture to the groups).

Or how about we bag the whole old people one and make it "movies with horny senior citizens."  My favorite kind of old people.  (Har har har)

Re:The Weekly Theme Suggestion Box

Afterthought:  What about "movies with homeless people"?  A friend of mine, in an obviously philosophical and socially concious statement, said to me, "Dude, homeless people are SOO hungry.  Like, they would eat whatever you throw to them, because they don't have any money.  Like, they're starving ALL THE TIME."  (Fits of laughter)  I feel like a terrible person for including that, but I had to relay my inner demons into writing somehow.  As general advice, do not proceed to drop a chip in front of the next bum you see on the street.  You'll feel scummy for at least 20 minutes.

Now I want to give Robin Williams a hug.

Re:The Weekly Theme Suggestion Box

There are plenty of perhaps genres in their own right to be discussed here; costume drama vs. recent period pieces, or stoner comedy. Perhaps more obscure things that categorize themselves; Kubrick Movies. Thinking along those lines might yield interesting discussion. I can't come up with immediately good ones here, some other ones up there look better but this is a good cause to perpetuate.
