London calling

I watched Maybe Baby recently and enjoyed watching the characters visit parks and vistas around London.   The movie is a definite for couples trying to have children with perhaps only slight amusement to others.  I love the Brit accent and while I can't help but think about the Beattles and all their songs as I can't get McCartney's "Maybe Baby" tune out of my head this week, the movie has stirred up some great memories.  I miss the walks around London so much long ago... The discovery of St. Pauls, sauntering down Fleet Street, finding the London Bridge, amusements from the outspoken on Speaker's Corner, trying to get the guards to smile or at least to divert their glances, chasing pigeons in Trifalgar Square..

What were some of your highlights traveling to London?  (and England as a whole)

Re: London calling

definitly doing a headphone tour of the tower of london. I really felt like part of the culture walking around with giant black headphones on, attached to a brick sized receiver on my belt. I haven't seen this film. Did it jjust remind you of london? or was it decent? I've never even heard of it/

Re: London calling

I would recommend the film most to couples struggling to have a baby as they'll connect and find it hilarious, overwise, it's a sweet film that one could get bored with.  The opening two minutes are a hilarious parody of corporate culture not completely distant from my current job.  I did like the film overall and as my mind was wondering, enjoyed the scenery remembering my trip to England in 1994.  More films that I'd recommend for scenery sake (not good movies sake) are: Austin Powers, Bridgett Jones, and Wedding Date as especially with these last two, give you a feel for local livable life.  I very much enjoyed Love Actually for both views around town and the sweet little love story.

I'm very curious to learn what films Spoutgirl would recommend based on her recent trip to the Island as well as to hear a few good stories.
