Weigh in on SpoutBlog's lists before they go up
Hola group, On SpoutBlog, you may have seen Chris Campbell's weekly lists. I thought it would be fun if the Top 5 group got to weigh in what we're thinking about from week to week. I'll give you the topics, you weigh in with your movies, and when Chris' posts go up (between Tuesday and Friday) we'll let you know here in the group so you can check them out.
Here are the lists we're working on this week (10/13/08) for SpoutBlog:
- Top Political Passion Projects -- For good and for ill, celebrities can get too big for their britches and make very politically-motivated movies.
- Top Musicians Who Made Movies -- We're not talking actors-turned-musicians, like Bruce Willis or Crispin Glover...maybe that should be its own list. We're thinking more along the lines of Madonna's latest foray as director.
- Top Virgins Who Lost it On a Road Trip -- We got to thinking about how many road trips involve someone losing their virginity. Why is it easier to get laid on the road?
I'd look forward to reading what you think.

Re:Weigh in on SpoutBlog's lists before they go up
Very cool! Can I go ahead and nominated Road Trip and Almost Famous for the 'Virgins who lost it on a road trip'?
I haven't seen many political films (try to avoid that arena, honestly), but I did like 'Wag the Dog' a fair bit. Not sure if I am qualified enough to be able to confidently nominate it as a best-of film!

Best Political Passion Projects
Chris posted the Best Political Passion Projects on SpoutBlog.
____________________________________________________
I was happy to see Good Night, and Good Luck there. I was just thinking last night how I'd like to see more contemporary black and white movies. I dismissed that possibility with the thought, "Nobody has the guts." I forgot George Clooney has the guts.
I need to see The Great Dictator.
It's too bad W. is sounding less than great, I wanted it to be great. To be honest though, Oliver Stone has never inspired me to have confidence in his sense of humor.
Incidentally, Josh Brolin was really funny and charming on Letterman last night. Letterman said, "You're father is James Brolin--" and Josh interrupted, "No, Charles Bronson. I don't know how this mix-up got started."

For the political movie, I'd like to nominate W. w/ Josh Brolin as our "fearless" leader.
Top Virgins Who Lost it On a Road Trip -- We got to thinking about how many road trips involve someone losing their virginity. Why is it easier to get laid on the road?
I second the nomination for Road Trip! That scene was hiliarious! But, if I had to nominate a separate film, if one could even call it that, I'd have to go with Crossroads ala Britney Spears. Which might also fit into the Muscians turned Movie Makers category- if you want to count Spears as a musician. lol

Re:Weigh in on SpoutBlog's lists before they go up
Filmgal81, I'm awarding you points for:
a) agreeing on the 'Road Trip' scene (What'd you do!? Kill a cheetah!?... I 'boinked' her!)
b) coming up with a crossover for BOTH the musician-turned-actor category and the virgin-road-trip category. Thats a daily double for you!
c) and finally, ultra, mega bonus points for having admitted to seeing 'Crossroads'. That takes guts. ;-)
Good work.. I NEVER would have thought about Crossroads. Now, for my embarrassing moment... wasn't there a fillm with Jonathan Taylor Thomas where he and two friends buy an old Ford Woody wagon and go across the country... did any of them get laid? I think it might have been 'Wild America', after reviewing his resume... never saw it, but I remember seeing a preview in theatres for some reason.

Re:Weigh in on SpoutBlog's lists before they go up
Hey! I admit I had a brief lapse in judgement- it was on HBO and I'm a sucker for random musical/orchestrated dancing numbers in films (like the 3 of them "singing" 'I Love Rock 'n Roll').
I promise that, in general, I have more refined film buds than that. lol

10 Virgins Who Lost it on a Road Trip
Chris posted his list of 10 Virgins Who Lost it on a Road Trip.
The Ellen Page video is pretty sad. Would anyone who's seen Mouth to Mouth recommend it?
