Did you see an error message or something that just didn't seem right on Spout?

Post it here and we will do our best to get it resolved for you!

Hello Spout people.  I have noticed that some film pages are not loading properly while others are just fine.  My most recent example of this is West Side Story.  I try to load the page, but all that comes up is the description, and I know people have seen this one!  The tag cloud and everything else is gone and it says "error on page" at the bottom of my browser.  But other movies that I load within seconds are fine.  Don't know what could be wrong, but I don't think it's me :-)

PS, I just read this discussion more fully, and I have tried to refresh and everything.  I've also tried opening a new browser window.  So, I don't know.

Hey - My apologies for not responding to this sooner.  The error you are experiencing is specific to Internet Explorer and was caused by some embedded footage in the film.  Please visit the film page again and tell me if its still a problem.  We've removed that custom data and are attempting to discover the root of the error.

Best,

Xavier

Re:Bugs and Errors

I am having a problem with my postings (again). I AM,at least, able to post messages this time but my postings are being re-formated into one continous paragraph. No matter how I format my post, with regards to paragraphs, spaces, etc. all my recent postings are condensed into one paragragh. Just as you see here. Also, I no longer have the little toolbar at the top of the "post a message" window that allows me to use italics or link a movie, etc. Please Help! < GOR > (this was written in seven seperate paragraphs, including my signature and this P.S. and you can see the result)

Hey Dr_Gor,

I've forwarded this to our development team, and they're looking into it... Hopefully they'll have an answer soon.

(And sorry - I can imagine that would be super frustrating).

Re:Bugs and Errors

I haven't read this whole thread, so this may already be explained somewhere above.

In my filmblog I posted a review for Sun Dogs. If you go to the Africa Unite movie page, it incorrectly lists the Sun Dogs review.

There are other instances of this, which I can fix if there is a way to do it.

One review in my filmblog (Wonderous Oblivion) displays in a different, harder-to-read font. How to change the font? thx.

Hey Joe,

This isn't an error, per se.  Your Sun Dogs review shows up on the Africa Unite page because you linked it in your review.  On the filmblog page itself, the films are displayed alphabetically, not necessarily in the order which they were mentioned.

Whenever you "link" a film in a review, it will show up on that film's detail page.  Its kind of a different way to discover new films, but its not perfect.

We're currently working on ways to improve the film blog's functionality, and I think the Link a movie feature is something to focus on.  As a film reviewer, what are your thoughts?  Would it help you if you could associate films to your review at different  levels (for example: Main subject, related movie, or Just mentioned) when you're linking a film?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Xavier

Hey again, Joe-

I'm going to look into this one to be sure, but if you copied and pasted the review from a rich-text editor, it imported the STYLE and FONT settings from that program, thus re-creating whatever font style it was.

To change the font, you would click on the Edit button on the filmblog entry.  Once the text editor is loaded, click on the HTML button in the top-right corner of the toolbox.  A pop-up HTML editor will open up displaying the HTML code for your entry.

You'll need to delete any <FONT> and <SPAN> tags, as well as something that looks like:

  • <span style="letter-spacing: -0.75pt">
  • <font face="Times New Roman" size="3">
  • </span>
  • </font>

Whenever you see code like this:
  • <p style="margin: 0pt" class="MsoNormal">
Replace it, simply remove all the text after the p, leaving just <p>.

When you're done, click save and your entry should no longer be formatted the way it was.

Let me know if this helps or if anything is unclear.
Xavier
