The Last House on the Left (1972) VS The Last House on the Left (2009)
We already got the discussion started on this one over at Horror Movies 101, but for those of you who have seen the original The Last House on the Left (1972), do you have any expectations for the upcoming remake? Is it good that Wes Craven is attached to the film in some capacity instead of a whole slew of new people having their own way with it? If you've seen the trailer already is there any point in watching it since EVERYTHING was given away?
Let us know!

I guess it's a good thing that Craven's attached. But I have a general distrust of horror remakes. See my blog post as to why. Basically the only thing that was good about that trailer was Taken By Trees' cover of "Sweet Child of Mine." I also have a general distrust of movies in which the whole plot is given away (why should I go see the movie if I already know all the basic plot points?). So, no. I am not planning on seeing "Last House on the Left." If Mark Kermode says it's good, I might check it out. However, I predict I'll get to enjoy one of his infamous volcano-like rants upon its release.

Wow! Deja-vu! I was just talking about these movies a couple days ago over in that other group... So I will try not to repeat myself here...
First of all, I thought Wes Craven was going to produce AND direct this remake. I may be wrong. If that is (or would have been) the case, then this movie certainly would have raised some eyebrows. It did mine...
Second, I have NEVER seen a remake of ANY film that was better than the original. ... unless you count the 1931 version of Frankenstein as being a remake of the 1910 Thomas Edison version.
And third, I WILL watch this remake at my first opportunity and I WILL go in with an open mind. I am looking forward to seeing this, actually, and my hopes are high for an excellent movie. But, of course, I am well aware that probably will not be the case.
We will see...

So you like remakes of songs but not remakes of movies?
I have to say I'm the same way, but still found it amusing enough to point out.
