What are your favorite Mumblecore films?
Just from looking at the Mumblecore map, I would have to say that I enjoyed Great World of Sound quite a bit. It was torn down and transparent, which I felt added to the overall realism and humor of the film. I also liked George Washington for a lot of the same reasons. When I watched it, I wouldn't have labeled it "mumblecore", but when I think more about it, the filmmaking reflects a lot of the same characteristics. Its interesting seeing how all of these films and directors are related. I would never have drawn the connection between HomestarRunner and George Washington:) So, what are your favorites?

Re:What are your favorite Mumblecore films?
Holy cow. I offered an opinion about what mumblecore is, over in the other thread, but reading Matt Dentler and The Reeler and Schnack about David Gordon Green and his first two films, George Washington and All the Real Girls, I guess I didn't know what I was talking about. Comparing those two movies to, say, Mutual Appreciation and LOL... I would never have made any connection at all between then. My initial reaction is, if those four films are all mumblecore, then the category is too wide and inclusive to mean anything useful or interesting. Course, that's the opinion of a bootless spout maven.

Re:What are your favorite Mumblecore films?
I feel as though I am bit late to the game here...just a bit...
But I just watched one of the Spout Mavens' discs, a movie called Team Picture, about hanging out and doing nothing in Memphis. I admit that I never knew what mumblecore meant until I saw this movie. To be honest, there's no deeper meaning to it whatsoever. But it's a mildly enjoyable experience, probably moreso for people who love the genre.
