Re: Trivia: Shortest Best Picture

I'll guess, and this is just a guess, that it's Sunrise from 1927.  I don't know the running time, but it's a silent film, and those tend to run a little over an hour.  But I've never seen it, alas, so I can't be sure.

Just for reference, I'll try to post a new trivia question every day and post the answer the next day. If you have questions, post them :)

Re: Trivia: Shortest Best Picture

Answer: Marty (1955) - Total running time: 91 min.

Marty was also the first best picture winner  to have been based on a TV program.  The story came from the 1953 TV programmed called "Marty".

Also on a side note, Sunrise (1927) was only 66 min. long, however it was not even nominated for Best Picture despite most critics today feeling it should have won. It did however receive an award for Artistic merit. Wings (1927) was the first Best Picture winner and was the only silent film to ever win an Academy Award, and runs 139 min.

Nice job!
