Have you seen?

What about Purple Rain; now that's a movie sound track.   Early Prince; what a kid he was.

Re: Have you seen?

So much a kid, his charcter was named, "The Kid."

Yes, the soundtrack is fabulous. "When the Doves Cry," is one of my all-time favorites. The story was hairline thin, so I found it easy to get to the end of the soundtrack (side A and side B) than I did to finish Purple Rain.

You know Paul you're right about Purple Rain, it was kinda a lame story line but I was absolutely into the music, when doves cry is one of my favorites also.  But all of Prince's music was worth the look see.  I think!

Re: Have you seen?

I was lucky enough to be able to attend a midnight screening of Sing-Along Purple Rain; it coincided with the 20th anniversary celebration of the movie *gasp* last year. [I must admit that I do have a soft spot in my heart for the actual movie because I literally watched it several times a day every Saturday with my niece (she is only 7 months younger than me - I have MUCH older siblings) on VHS when we were about 10 or 11 while we were being "babysat" by my other sister - TV was the real babysitter and my niece was obsessed with Prince, so we watched Purple Rain. A LOT.] Anyway, the movie has sentimental value, but the soundtrack is genius - my personal favorite songs are "The Beautiful Ones", "Darling Nikki", "Computer Blue", and of course, "Purple Rain". The Sing-Along was GREAT - it was hosted by Peaches Christ, a famous drag queen from San Francisco - she even had a mini-troupe of backup drag queens with her - they acted as Appolonia 6, amongst other things - they put on a small show before the movie in which they acted out lots of the videos from the movie with caricature-like cardboard cut-out props - the bathtub for "When Doves Cry" and the entire performance brought tears to my eyes from laughter. They also hosted an 80s Slut Dress Up contest for the audience that was pretty entertaining, but most entertaining (besides the sheer pleasure of being able to sing your heart out to one of the greatest concert films of all time - that's right: I'm now declaring it a concert film - we're all in agreement that there's not much of a plot) were all of the drunken audience members - myself excluded (not that I don't drink socially, I just don't very often and didn't that night). All of the song lyrics were open-captioned to help everyone be able to sing along, but the true entertainment was when someone very drunk dropped a flask from the balcony onto someone a row or two behind me (thankfully before the movie started) - oh, the hilarity that ensued...Enough about my personal experiences with this film - can we at least all (or mostly) agree that the Lake Minnetonka scene was hot the first time we saw it?

"What about Purple Rain; now that's a movie sound track";Yes those were the days :i love both the movie and the soundtrack:But now as i read the discussions the script was not that deep but i still liked it:These are the movies and music of my time;I remember singing the lyrics to that soundtack with my friends, those memories.I remeber that soundtrack having the most explicit lyrics(darling nikki) i heard -mainstream during those days:Purple Rain, i believe, is how i started liking prince:Also, i began liking all  the other bands that came out of that movie like morris day (he was funny)from the time. The soundtrack reminds me of one of my most memorable trip to new york city and my early high school yrs.The movie/soundtrack is what made me a great fan of prince:I actually saw prince twice in concert. Once in the mid 80's(when he was still racy), the first concert i have ever attended. And the second time, in 1997(he was much more toned down)

"What do you have when you have two little green balls in your hand?...   Kermit's undivided attention."

___#1 Joking Off by Johnny Lyons

What do you have when you have two little blue balls in your hand?

Well, it just depends.  If you're a girl, they will turn "purple"; but if you're a guy, then you've got Prince's undivided attention.
