Which of these films written by Shinobu Hashimoto is your favorite?

Please reference this thread for the rules of this group.

I recently watched the amazing Harakiri.  It's one of the best films I've seen in a while.  I just discovered that a man named Shinobu Hashimoto was a screenwriter on this film and some of the greatest and most well known Japanese films including many of the best known samurai films and many of Kurosawa's best films.

Please vote only once in each poll.

Movies referenced in this poll:
The Bad Sleep Well
Dodes'ka-den
Harakiri
The Hidden Fortress
Ikiru
Rashomon
Samurai Rebellion
Seven Samurai
The Sword of Doom
Throne of Blood

Embrassingly I've only seen Seven Samurai, but I've heard that Rashomon and The Hidden Fortress are both quite good. My college's library has an asian film collection and I bet all of these films are in it. I should go check them out. :)

Once I've seen more of these I'll cast my vote. :)

There's still a few of these I haven't gotten to see yet. But I'm actually really partial to the modern (non-samurai) themed Kurosawa. I voted for The Bad Sleep Well but it's almost a toss up between that & Ikiru. But I love the whole life dedicated to revenge plot of The Bad Sleep Well. It's very Shakespeareanishistic............................................. yeah

Although Harakiri is just amazing and the movie that caused me to look into this writer and make this poll, I still think I have to reserve Rashomon for my favorite.  It's stunning to think that amazing piece of work was Hashimoto's first film!

What a list.  Quite an impact by one writer!

I still need to see Harakiri & Dodes, but I'll be shocked if they dethrone Hidden Fortress.  That was my first Hashimoto film and it hasn't been topped by others on this list yet.

Most of the rest are tied for 2nd place.  Hard to have a list where Seven Samurai and Sword of Doom are included but aren't ranked first!

Interesting, because Hidden Fortress is actually my least favorite of those I've seen (although still very good!).  Maybe I was just in the wrong mood or need to see it again!  I remember first time watching it knowing that it was an inspiration for the Star Wars story in a way.  Maybe I was expecting something other than what it really was.
