Which of these Ebeneezer Scrooge performances is your favorite?
Please reference this thread for the rules of this group.
I noticed this discussion going on in many different groups around Spout. So I was hoping I could rally everyone together and find out what participating Spout users think overall about this question.
Please vote only once in each poll.
Movies referenced in this poll: The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) Scrooge (1970) A Christmas Carol (2004) (TV) Scrooge (1935) A Christmas Carol (1938) A Christmas Carol (1984) (TV) Scrooge (1951) A Christmas Carol (1999) (TV) Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983)

I guess not technically "Scrooge" but I'd totally vote Bill Murray in Scrooged:p
BTW, these polls are impossible. I can never choose!

Risselada:
Of all the Ebenezer Scrooges I've seen over the years, Alastair Sim looked and sounded closest to the way I'd envisioned Scrooge in my head. His transformation performance is the best, too, I think. The most naturally convincing. Not too sudden or over the top. It's a fine line--easy to get the timing and intensity wrong.
Though a number of these Carol versions are good, I think my second favorite Scrooge is Mr. Magoo. :-) .

Micky's Christmas Carol was the first version of a Christmas Carol that I ever saw, so it'll always be me favorite :3

I just like the way Michael Caine delivered the lines, maybe it's because I've seen his version so many times, now I can't watch anyone else play the part.

Albert Finney--but I'd watch him in just about anything. And I have a huge soft spot for cheesy '70s movies.

Unfortunately I haven't seen a single one of those films. So my vote too is a write in for Bill Murray in Scrooged. LOVE that film.

I actually have never seen all of Scrooged. But I didn't really think it was close enough to the original story as any of these plethora of other adaptations to include. Bill Murray's characters name isn't even Ebeneezer Scrooge is it?
Plus we already did a Bill Murray poll. ;)

I voted for Sim too. I was first introduced to him through one of my absolute favorite movies, The Ruling Class. It lead me to see him in Scrooge.
I really need to check him out in more things. I just read this bit of trivia on IMDB and now I can toally see the resemblence:
Alastair's performance in London Belongs to Me (1948) so impressed Alec Guinness that he based his performance in The Ladykillers (1955) on it. So much so that Alastair is often thought to have done it.
