From which of the following countries have you seen the most films?

Please reference this thread for the rules of this group.

This is really for my own curiosity. This is a list of countries that primarily speak languages other than English and that have in their history produced a lot of films. I'm curious to see where people are seeing a lot of their foreign or foreign language films from.

Please vote only once in each poll.

Since I was a French student in high school and college, and since I was in advanced French, I know I've seen far more French films than any other country.  Can I name them all?  No. :-)

Japan for me of course! Both animated and live action (though truthfully mostly animated XD)

I have seen a few films that were in Spanish, but I'm actually not sure which country they came from ^^;;

France tied with Spain.

Followed by Japan tied with China.

Denmark and Italy rounding out third place.

Last reserved for India.

It's probably a three-way tie:  French, Spanish and Mexican films.  But I can't be sure without going through my "seen" list and manually counting.  I gave my vote to Spain because Spanish was my foreign language at school and in recent years I did a mad rush through Pedro Almovodar films.

This has shaken my own curiosity.  After giving it some thought, it seems I've seen films from all the countries listed except Japan.  Unless you want to count those old Godzilla, et al., films that got overdubbed into English.  ;-)  But I feel as though I've barely scratched the surface of foreign-language films; there are many more I still want to see!

France, not because I particularly like them, and not because I can follow the dialogue (I understand just enough to make it distracting). But because a) the classic French cinema post WWII was recommended viewing, and b) recent French film has been quite good--I don't know enough about the context to say there is a rennaisance but it certainly seems like it.

I think France and Japan are the highest for me as well.  I guess I'm not too different from anyone else.  I think Japan was actually the highest.

I'm embarassed to say I don't think I've seen any movies from India!  I've seen most of Pather Panchali but that's it!  I think seeing some Indian movies this year will be one of my movie watching goals.

France, but a close second is Germany.

Good poll question. This one made me think a bit. I've been watching a lot more Italian and Japanese movies lately so it threw me off. After a minute though, I had to realize, I've probably still seen quite a few more French films than anything.

Good question--I had to sit and think for a bit, but I think Japan wins based solely on the number of anime features I've seen.  Otherwise, I think Taiwan would be #2 for awesome kung-fu westerns I was really into for awhile (still am... need to think about watching some more sometime soon...)
