SpoutBlog's Oscars v. Popularity Post and Ensuing Debate

Well, now it's hotlinked to the imdb, and people are weighing in. I post it to our beloved Oscars group because this is exactly the kind of discussion our little group could get into. I don't know this Dirty Harry person, but I find all of the ensuing comments to Karina's post quite interesting. And since I heart (<3) the Oscars, I find all of this canvasing for The Dark Knight and some of the earliest buzzed short listers very interesting indeed.
Anyone want to weigh in here?
Oscar Buzz season doesn't really start until post-Thanksgiving, since that's when holiday blockbusters and the studios' Oscar contender releases also inundate our local cineplexes. Be sure to watch for this year's thread.
