Description:

Why do you like the opening and closing sequences of movies?

Initially I started watching credit sequences because I LOVED movies and I wanted to respect the filmmakers. Later it became because I had worked in the industry and wanted to see if the names of anyone I had known were in the credits.  Now, as I study motion graphics and  visual arts, I watch the opening and closing sequences for their layout, their concepts and the interesting effects that are often elements of the intro and the crawl.

A lot of times there are bloopers or even additional sequences during or after the end credits.  That's probably one of the biggest reasons I'd stick around for them.  But sometimes I'm curious to see who a certain actor was or who performed a certain song in the film.

What Risselada said.  I always look for little jokes, 'easter eggs', aliases, outtakes, etc.

I'll often sit to the tail just to see who sang a particular song.  For instance I just watched MUSIC & LYRICS thinking "I wonder who did all of Hugh Grant's vocals" and then watched to the tail to find out that he actually did them all himself!

I watch credits for the bloopers, etc, especially if it's a comedy or an animated film (especially Pixar, there are always things in the end credits of those movies).  But I also almost always watch the credits to look for:

the cast list (who played that obscure part, he looked familiar)

who sang what song (gosh, i really liked that, what was it?)

the song list itself and whether there is a soundtrack listed (if i really noticed it)

if there is an orchestral score, which symphony got the lucky break

sometimes, i will just listen to the music or, even better, the score.  the Star Wars (there they are again) and many John Wililams featured films play excerpts of his score.  it's fun to listen to.

i know, i'm a nerd.
