Welcome...

Hollywood has always been notorious for its portrayal of women.  From the helpless damsel-in-distress commonly potrayed in the first half of the 20th century, to the vengeful, blood thirsty (yet still sexual) badass of more modern films.

I hope we can discuss how the roles have evolved, what they are saying (and what they aren't), and how this has impacted and reflected on cultural views of women.  Don't think I am limiting this discussion though--we're open to anything!

Re:Welcome...

Once upon a time I took a class called "Women in Cinema" and for the life of me I can't remember anything from that class right now.

Except maybe "the gaze"... there was something about "the gaze."
