Re: favorite

I have to admit that I am surprised myself to see someone list Event Horizon. It was a very well executed movie except for some of the occasional spells of some what questionable acting. Although I will admit the stupid movie left me awake a few nights in a row with the fear that I may end up trapped in my dreams of a painfully dark hell.

28 days I must admit was approached in an interesting manner. The fact that it felt some what real was intriguing. However I felt that a portion of the movie was over done. But I still enjoyed watching the flick!

I have to admit most movies do not leave me that frightened. Although I will admit most movies I have seen in the theater have left me a little more on edge then watching the film at home.

I believe my favorite film to date so far is The Shining. But more for the visuals and acting.

The movie that scared me the most was Killer Klowns from Outerspace. But that could also be thanks to my age at the time. I was only about 8 when I was subjected to such horrific displays of death. For many years I could not face a freaking clown and to actually see bodies wrapped in cotten candy!

hahaha...

I remember watching killer klowns from outerspace the first time and scared the livin bejesus out of me, then watching don't tell mom the babysitters dead, i figured kelly bundys boyfriend would turn into one.

The shining I would put on my top 20. that movie is like epitomy of insantiy. Every second of that movie is intriguing to me.

You know what Kungfu, I am in the same position.

I think it has alot to do with the age you first start watching them.

I had 2 older brothers that forced me to watch horrors at an early age and now they just don't scare me anymore.

I would be willing to bet that I began watching Horror Movies at an earlier age than you, Virgo, and I would bet that I am older than you as well...    My Dad was a huge movie fan and he began taking me to the Theatre and the Drive-In before I was out of diapers...   In other words, I have been watching Horror Movies for as long as I can remember... and then some...   I have been watching and studying Horror movies ever since and you are correct, you tend to develop a 'resistance' over time to where most 'scary' movies are not really scary.   But, for me they are STILL quite entertaining.  I am not sure why.    I would take the WORST POSSIBLE Horror Movie over the BEST 'romantic comedy/musical/family film' any day!    For example, I would rather watch  Plan 9 from Outer Space (1956) - Details - Spout  than "Grease" again any day!  ( I had some little sisters that drug me down into the depths of "Grease" and "Grease II'... and "The Legend Of Billie Jean"... God knows I will never forget THAT one! ) ....

But, out of all those years of watching every Horror Movie I possibly could, I can think of some that really scared me the first time....

The Exorcist (1973) - Talk - Spout : My Favorite Movie Of All Time... Read my Review...

Psycho (1960) - Details - Spout : I opted to take a bath instead of a shower for YEARS after I first saw this movie at about the age of 5...

The Legend of Hell House (1973) - Details - Spout : Been There, Done that... Not Fun...

Night of the Living Dead (1968) - Talk - Spout : 'Nuff Said...

Last House on the Left (1972) - Details - Spout,

The Godfather (1972) - Talk - Spout  is a 'non-horror' movie that I thought was scary as Hell...

Deliverance (1972) - Details - Spout  is another one...

... Some recent movies that actually 'scared' me...

Darkness Falls (2003) - Details - Spout : This Movie Was TERRIFYING...

  The Ring (2002) - Talk - Spout...

How many of these have you seen, Virgo?   I would be interested to know.  ;)
