8 Films to Die For

Which is the best?  which is the worst?
I am watching "Reincarnation" tonight but don't really know much about this series.

I know the series of which you speak and I have yet to see any of these movies...   I am looking forward to them...

Re: 8 Films to Die For

I've seen Unrest and The Gravedancers so far. I was really looking forward to this series of films after watching the trailers. But I was disappointed when I actually saw them.

Unrest had a decent plot, but I felt cheated only because I expected much more from it. I felt the same about The Gravedancers. However, The Gravedancers did have some great ghosts that I enjoyed.

The biggest problem I have with the series so far is that there was too much hype. I'll still watch the rest of the films, but I've lowered my expectations.

If you can, watch the trailers before the film, I'm curious to see if anyone else feels the same.

Saw grave dancers last week pretty creepy, but ending was kind of  cheesey. Also saw wicked little things it was ok. Want to try to see the return and penny dreadful sometime this week.

Horror films are all about the hype.  Once and  a while you find a good one. gotta love the adrenaline rush of a scarey movie when you find one though!

The Abandoned  was voted favorite out of the 8.  Waiting for it to come out on DVD.  Liked gravedancers so far how was reincarnation?

Reincarnation was good.  I like the concept, and the style was along the lines of Ju-On.  So It was good.  It got cheesy at the end, and if you see it you'll know (unless dolls scare you in that case it may be scary instead of cheesy).  But I won't say anything else to give away the end.

Re: 8 Films to Die For

Hi, all, thanks for the invite. Glad to be here! My standard disclaimer to Spout groups is that I'm at the whims of an odd work schedule, so I don't always get a chance to play when I feel like it, but I will try to put a word or two in here whenever I drop by Spout.

Reincarnation -- a fine flick by one of my fav horror directors. Not a genre-definer like Ju-on, and not just plain brilliant like Marebito, but way better than, say, the Tomie film that he did. I haven't seen any of the other Horrorfest flicks.

If you ended up like Reincarnation, it's actually the third film in a proposed six-part series called "J-Horror Theater." The other two so far are Infection and Premonition. (Not the Sandra Bullock one, obviously.) I don't know when or even if the last three films are coming out, now that J-horror has lost a bit of its mystique in Hollywood. Anyone have any intelligence on this?
