My Bloody Valentine Remake

Has anyone seen the trailer for this?  You know I'm not much for remakes but this actually looks pretty fun because they've made it in 3D.   I really liked the original movie, it's not very well known but it was pretty good.  Anyone have any opinion on the old movie or the new one?

This new version looks like it will be pretty cool.   The original was a very good low-budget Canadian horror film that caught on to the "slasher/horror" craze of the early 1980's but with an interesting twist,  the killer was a Miner!   NOT a 'minor',   the killer in this movie is someone over 18 years old who works (or WORKED) in a mine ...   Of course this leads to some rather creative and inventive and gruesome ways to dispatch a person...   I liked this movie a lot back in the day and I still like it a lot today.    Of course this instantly reminded me of another "cult-horror-jump-on-the-bandwagon-holliday-slasher-flick" called  April Fools Day .   This one was recently remade and I have yet to see that one as well.

Back to the remake version of  My Bloody Valentine ,   This movie looks promising to me mostly because I would like to check out this new 3-D technology that everybody has been ranting and raving about...   my curiosity is piqued...

I usally never go to the movies lately, becasue where I live anything that hits the theaters is plain awful! I got talked into seeing Saw 5, which I hated. They showed the previews to My bloody Valentine 3-D and my curiosity got the best of me. I know if it comes up here I will go and see it!!

As for April Fools, I didnt see it, I have a hard time with remakes. I was on BD Horror and they had there list of worst horror films of 2008 and April Fools was number 1. Incase anyone is interested heres the link, http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/14775.

Yes, I am the same way about remakes, there have only been a few that I have really liked.  I think the only reason My Bloody Valentine looks good is because it is going to be in 3D, it just sounds like a lot of fun.  I liked the old April Fool's day and didn't even know they had remade it.  It sounds like I didn't miss much.

Another movie that is coming out soon (someone told me this was a remake? Does anyone know?) is The Unborn, that looks pretty spooky.   I am going to have to check out the lists...

Well some friends and I went to see this last night.  It really was cool.  I wish they would make more movies in 3D, it just really made you feel like you were in the movie.  They changed the story around a bit but all in all it was pretty good.  They did have a few cheesey 3D effects where they had some things pop out at you, but it wasn't too bad.  It's definately a great movie if you have a date or if you just have a group of crazy friends.

It seemed like in the first movie, that briefly you got to know each character in a way, and you either really liked them and it upset you when they died or you were kind of wishing they would get hacked up.  I wish they would have done more like that in the newer movie.  All you really got to know were the main characters.  I still enjoyed it though and with Jensen Ackles playing Tom and Kerr Smith playing Axel - they are both really nice to look at.

OK.  The Doctor has been catching up on his 'recent' remakes...   I have recently watched  Friday the 13th , Last House on the Left  and  My Bloody Valentine .   The latter was my favorite of the three.   A very good horror/action film with brutal murders galore from the opening minutes.   A few minutes of some very nice, un-ashamed nudity only add to the many charms of this one.   They bumped up the gore and violence quotient quite a bit in this one, making it very fun to watch.   For sentimental reasons, I still think the original is a better movie...

Yes, I have to say it was a fun movie and my hat is off to the woman who was naked for about 15 minutes running in heels and screaming.  It had to be cold after a while.  I guess when people said they wanted nudity in this one, they decided to keep it on screen for quite a while.

SO Gor, in the remake of Last House on the Left, does the girl die in this one?  From the previews it looks like she is barely alive but IS alive.  You can put a big SPOILER alert on it, but I just wanted to know how they ended this one.

Normally I woulds not do this but just for you, June...

   *** SPOILERS ***

This movie was "niced down" from the original version in order to get that  "PG-13" rating.   I thought it was very dissapointing much like Adam Sandler's remake of  The Longest Yard .   The original of that movie was a VERY brutal depiction of a prison football game in which people were KILLED.   Nobody died in the remake.   Last House  was like that.   The girl survives.   The infamous "penis-chomping" scene is gone ...

You can take from that what you will.

I find it interesting how a lot of times it's talked about how the trend in society is that media is becoming more and more extreme, offensive, and uncesored.  But then you hear about tamed down remakes like this.  I'm not sure if things have really changed that much.  Or maybe things come in waves.  What do you think?

I think I must correct my earlier post.   The remake of  Last House  Actually WAS rated  "R" ...  And for very good reasons.   This movie is very disturbing and still contains a VERY brutal and graphic rape scene as well as some nudity and gore and violence.   But it is just not on a level with the original.   I think it was "toned down" in order to avoid an "X" or "NC-17" rating by todays tougher standards...
