Day of the Dead and Orphan
I've already said that I hated The Midnight Meat Train. But there are some movies that I don't hate. Trust me. If you have read some of past discussions you will find that I LOVE John Carpenter's The Thing starring the drool-tastic Kurt Russell. However, now I'm going to talk about some movies I've seen that were really dumb. And some other previews that just looked dumb. Here we go.
I recently watched the Day of the Dead remake. Very disappointing, but quirky at the same time. Ving Rhames returns as Captain Rhodes (sound familiar?), a military dude who has no relationship to Rhames' character in the Dawn of the Dead remake. SPOILERS AHEAD.
He get his face eaten, as well as the other black kid, Nick Cannon, who, by the way, is freaking married to freaking Mariah Carey for crap's sake. But he doesn't get eaten 'til the end or so. I was sad that he got eaten but I got over it. Mina Suvari, the hot blonde from American Beauty, is the main character and she has a stupid horny brother who is worthless but lives. Damn the luck. Stark Sands, some guy I don't know but who is a big nerdy Private and kinda cute, gets bitten and turns into a horny, lusting-for-the-main-character zombie. Named Bud. Oh the agony.
The other thing is that the zombies were fast. Again. And one crawls across a wall and a ceiling to get to some poor nurse. Just not the way a zombie is supposed to move. I can understand the fastness but they're not geckos. So, I didn't like it. It sucked. And the ending was gay.
Another movie that just looks gay is Orphan. It seems to be quite similar to The Good Son which I thought was pretty okay. But, I've already seen it so why should I see Orphan? I don't know, but I sure won't if I can help it.
Sorry for the rambling. What do you all think of the movies I've mentioned or any movie for that matter? Speak up!

Re:Day of the Dead and Orphan
I just watched The Thing again a couple of week ago, you are right about Kurt Russell, I think he is still hot. I also just watched Big Trouble in Little China with him a couple of days ago, drool is so right. A-hem, anyway, I never did watch the remake of Day of the Dead, I might get it on Netflix later on. I actually did like the Dawn of the Dead Remake (little baby zombies always make me giggle, until their heads are blown off, that is). I did freak a bit when the zombies were fast, that was my first reaction, HEY zombies are suppose to move slow and never stop, they just keep coming to get you and even though they move 1/2 mile an hour when there is a group of them, they form a wall where you can't run away from them and then you are doomed, like poor Rhodes found out as he screamed Choke on them! But I did think it was a lot more exciting with them being fast, I had a lot more angst when they were running after people. whew.
I agree with you on Orphan, it looked like it could have been creepy in several parts and the little girl was very creepy looking, but in my mind I was thinking it was just another BAD SEED or GOOD SON movie.
District 9 looks like it might be a good action movie, I haven't read any reviews about it though, I can't think of any others right now.
