Check out this movie...UnRest!
I have been dieing to see (good choice of words huh?) the 8 movies from the horrorfest from last year. Finally I got to check out one. UNREST. Oh my...what a good movie. More of a mind bender than gore, which I love. Its about a medical student who is in their first year of school and is taking gross anaomy..(cant spell tonight). Will she was being to discect a body a feeling comes over her that there was more to this corpse that meets the eye. As people begin to die around her, she goes on a hunt to find out all she can about this corpse nicked named "Norma". I wont get into any further details because I dont want to spoil it for anyone else. It is one of those movies that keeps you on your seat. This one I highly recommend. If you have seen any of the other Horrorfest movies, I would be interested in what you think or if you have seen this movie and agree or disagree about this movie. Peace, Samantha

Re:Check out this movie...UnRest!
I was looking through an earlier issue of Fangoria - I believe it was the March issue, #261 - when I happened on an article about this movie, "Unrest". I have yet to see this one but I learned some interesting factoids that peaked my interest. It seems the director of this movie, Jason Todd Ipson, gave up a "promising career in medicine, after spending years in college and med school, to pursue the risky dream of making feature films...". Ipson explains that, while he "loved the operating room", he found that "all the other stuff that comes with medicine is just not enjoyable--like malpractice, constant documentation of charts, paperwork...". "Unrest" was Ipson's first project to receive backing and was "clearly inspired by Ipson's own days as a medical student, and specifically by his time spent on morgue rotation at the VA hospital in Salt Lake City. Contributing terrifically to the atmosphere of dread that the first time director creates quite effectively is the fact that the film was shot in the same hospital, with its uniquely eerie and very real underground facility." ! Another interesting aspect is that, besides being filmed in an actual hospital and morgue facility, there were also real bodies used in the shoot (!), an aspect of the film that was touted in After Dark's marketing! Says Ipson, "There were a number of real things we used in the movie, but nothing I can legally get specific about... In order to use anything real, we had to agree to portray them in an educational light that people would be learning from. I believe we were respectful of that, but you can run into all sorts of legal problems." You think? After reading the plot synopsis and learning about some of the more interesting aspects of this film I am eagerly looking forward to seeing it. I will let you know my thoughts once I have done so. Re:Re:Re:Check out this movie...UnRest!
Unrest is next on my Queue in Netflix, it looks REALLY good from the previews, thanks for the info about it, Gor, sounds even more interesting. I also watched: The Abandoned: This had some very good spooky moments. I thought the story was a little on the stupid side with some parts of it and there were also a few times that it was a bit confusing, but it was very entertaining and like I said, I got a few goosebumps several times. Penny Dreadful: Oh my god, this gave me a LOT of angst. I actually did want to slap Penny a few times but she kind of grew on me. I enjoyed seeing Mimi Rogers playing the psychiatrist, she is always good in whatever she does. Anyway, I thought it was a good story - the whole premise of this movie is just HORRIBLE in a real life situation...whew, good acting, very, very, very creepy crazy villian, I enjoyed it but have to admit that I did fast forward it through a couple of slow parts and some parts that were a little too much for me...eeeek. Dark Ride: This was just a fun movie, the girl that is in the Sopranos is in this and it has some good parts. Some of it was a little stupid (why slap a crazy man with a steak??? I know the hospital made him a vegetarian so that he will get that taste of meat out of his system but steak slapping? a little bizarre). I really liked a few of the death scenes, some were very morbid but cool, some were a little funny. Gravedancers: I've said a few things about this film before, but it was pretty fun, there are a lot of things I would do differently but all in all it was very creepy, especially the crazy piano teacher ghost...lots of goosebumps for me (that is always a good sign for me). Wicked Little Things: Okay, this movie had some really good parts but some were just down right stupid (I really don't think this next part is a spoiler because you find out pretty early that this happens, but if you don't want to know anything about the movie don't read on...), anyway, I think zombie ghost children was a little on the silly side. I wish they would have made that part a little different, I know they wanted blood and gore in it but it was a little laughable. I liked the ghost element with the little girl, that was good and creepy, actually anything in the woods in the middle of nowhere creeps me out (you can tell I'm not a good camper). Anyway, ALL these movies are worth watching!
