Is this festival awesome?

What do you think about FHTA? How well does it accomplish its goal, making it easier for filmmakers to connect with audiences? How is FHTA ultimately different from other film festivals?

I also noticed that at least three of the films have been in major film festivals before. What do you think about that? Would you prefer to help "underdogs"?

I think that all the films whether they have been a festival or not are underdogs in that they have gotten to a point where they have given up the dream of a big distribution deal. In the film world an underdog is always a filmmaker with a limited budget and no stars and you will see that all the FHTA films have that in common.

Good points. Though I'm curious about the difference between FHTA and other film festivals if the majority of FHTA prize contenders have already been shown at film festivals.

In other words, does FHTA promise what it delivers, or is it "just another film festival"?

Voting ends June 6, so be sure to let FHTA know which films are awesome.

Hey guys, the winning films have been announced and the showcase is available on the FHTA website.

I'm most excited about Abel Raises Cain making it into the showcase. Favorites that made it or didn't make it, anyone?

We're excited to be a part of this festival! As for the rooting for the underdog, I think the mission of FHTA is to dispel myths about indie film distribution. it's a misperception that because a film has played in a major film festival that it is going to garner critical reviews, secure distribution, and reach audiences worldwide. This simply isn't true for the majority of films that get into Tier 1 festivals.

So, it can be argued that films that play in larger festivals are still amongst the Underdog Set vs. the Indiewood Bunch.
