Trying to Capture
I joined this group mostly for my like of movies categorized as "guilty pleasures" and not so much for the movies that capture and recapture the days of young because I am not sure that I have seen a movie that captures my younger years...because my teen years were in the 90's not the 80's, and although many 80's teen movies are guilty pleasures of mine, they don't really capture my youth.
My teen years were....
Smoke free class of 2000, overalls, clogs, computers, dial up internet, Spanish, driving your own car not the bus, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, AOL, fast food, MTV, nintendo 64, instant messaging, pagers, high-lighting your hair, colorful nail polish...
...does anybody know any movies that capture this era?

Re: Trying to Capture
I will think on this, because I think they're out there. If not now, just give it a couple of years (everything's in the works in Hollywood).
And don't take the "capture" word too literally... it's more about being young (or young at heart) than about being a true representation of what your youth was like. Though, I'll wager there is one out there or one on the way.
I can't think of a single movie that's dead-on 90's teen (I would be the early half of the 90s, graduating in '95). That was back in the days of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and grunge; 2Pac, Biggie, and gangsta'; MacIntoshes; early Nintendo; holy jeans; flannel shirts; mallrats, etc. It's something to ponder...

Re: Trying to Capture
Hmmm, that is a good one Pam. I am not sure which movie would really capture your youth...Maybe if they were made in the 90's..Fast times at ridgemont high, or Ferris Buellers day off... but those are from the 80's. Let me know what you come up with, I would be interested to hear what they are.
Here is my teen years:
Hair bands, big hair, tons of make up, leg warmers and spandex, parachute pants, Rob Lowe, the Brat Pack, Bon Jovi, my first car was a 1987 dodge dynasty that we called "the wally wagon", keggers, classic rock, Ozzy, raves, NKOTB, HUGE earrings, colored mascara....I could go on, but I will leave some room...Anyone else care to share their youth?
