Re: Top 5 Movies About Music
Samnadam, I love your podcast and I am a long time listener. But ... surely you forgot A Hard Day's Night! I hope you just forgot about it because if you omitted it on purpose then you must never have seen it! But thanks again over and over for filmspotting - it makes my commute oh so much more enjoyable!

Risselada: joem18b:5. Tommy
I just saw Tommy for the first time last weekend. So fucking rediculous. I made sure to watch the part with Elton John a second time though. That's my favorite song and it's great to hear him sing it.
How did Tommy get on your "movies to watch" list?

Ha! I'm not exactly sure. I was doing that movie by year countdown thing and I just stuck out at me. I like a lot of the stuff by the who, and I don't just like hearing them, but I like watching them too. And I heard Jack Nicholson and some other folks were in it. I also know a guy who has mentioned it several times, but now maybe I'm thinking he was just referring to the album and not this crazy movie.

Re: Top 5 Movies About Music
well, you have to have watched some Ken Russell to be a true movie nut, so there you go.

Oh yeah I'm mostly curious to see that film Altered States. Have you seen it?

Re: Top 5 Movies About Music
Liked your list but two I would have included would be "Sparkle," about the rise and fall of a 60's girl group starring Irene Cara and Lonette McKee, featuring the music of the great Curtis Mayfield. The other would be another Irene Cara vehicle: Alan Parker's "Fame," about a school for the performing arts in which students cope not only with the desire to create and perform music, but the need to create it as well. I've seen it but don't especially remember it. Just read Ebert's review of it. He was smoking something much better than what I had when I watched it.
