FilmCouch #33

Kevin and I get emotional about No End in Sight, a documentary on the Iraq war in theaters now. The controversy surrounding this film is the product of how comprehensive it is.

The 11th Hour--starring Leonardo DiCaprio--opens tonight. Karina Longworth asks if Leo and activism go together like icebergs and boats.

Mick LaSalle, the lead movie critic for the San Francisco Chronicle, did the paper's review of No End in Sight last week.. He mentioned in this week's podcast that whenever he makes a little error in a review, the emails pour in. In his review of No End in Sight, he inexplicably referred to Rumsfeld as Secretary of State. Nobody corrected him.

This podcast was probably the most thought provoking for me.

Thanks jenpirante.

Kevin and I really struggled to pull this podcast on No End in Sight together. We finally came to a place where we decided the best thing we could hope for was that our honesty could somehow provoke more thinking around this movie and te war itself. Like the war itself, easy answers are deceptive and individuals doing the thinking for themselves is the only way to try and find a light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaking of seeking answers for yourself, listen to Karina's eloquent piece on Heavy Metal in Baghdad in this week's podcast.
