Bumping it down in our Netflix Queue

So Dogville's been in our Queue for a long time. I want to see it as it's Lars Von Trier, but I don't want to be depressed again. Watch it? Rush? Eh?

I'm not sure if you've seen it yet, but I'd recommend it.  I've yet to see Manderlay but I just realized it's out on DVD so I should check it out.

You probably will be depressed though, so don't watch it if you still are avoiding that.  You may also be enraged, confused, but you'll probably feel something.

Re: Bumping it down in our Netflix Queue

I finally rented it, I was in the mood for it. I thought it was depressing, but not in any foreign way for Lars Von Trier. It was separated enough that I could think, huh, that's too bad for that character, she really could have made nice with the townsfolk of Dogville...

The end credits, Bowie and photography was the jolt back to reality. Haven't seen Manderlay yet, I'll grab that one next from Ye Ol' Family Video.

Yeah that credit sequence with the photos and the Young American song was really a punch on the end of it that really made you think about what in the world he was doing ten times more.

Family Video eh?  I worked there for over two years.

Re: Bumping it down in our Netflix Queue

did u ever see manderlay???well, i just did last night and it is not a depressing movie quite like dogville;I sure wish though that it should have been nicole kidman playing the same role, that would have made the movie a tad much better;Kidman looks more womanly and is a better actress than bryce dallas howard.Howard looks like a kid/tomboy.Beyond that, the movie had an awesome story with an ending that i would never have expected.I think it had a better story than dogville without it being to depressing, more violent or explicit compared to dogville. The film kept me thinking at the end,That people should not presume what would make others happy or and content.Grace(main lead)had a good heart, great intentions and acted out according to what she believed was morally and by law correct. She was your perfect idealist that acted on her ideas.BUT just because you are all that good stuff, things do not always turn out good even with the best intentions. In fact it backfired to her, specifically ;and that is sad.She should not have interfered like her dad said or at the very least ASKED what the people wanted before she proceeded with her democratic idealist ways.

well what do u think of manderlay,if u saw it?????

THanks thanks
