Description:

This community is to discuss films which deal with themes that all fall under the umbrella of "extreme". This is cinema that not only shocks the senses but the soul as well - both simulataneously is the ideal. The most brutal disgusting abominations rendered in sublime film language. Most films discussed are NC-17 or Unrated, and explore at least one of these topics in a most thorough capacity: death, rape, violence, sexuality. Frequent topics will include cannibalism, necrophilia, sadomasochism, serial murder, incest, torture, mutilation, induced humiliation, zoophilia, supernatural ultra-gore, animal cruelty, pedophilia, suicide, nudity, use of hardcore sex in feature film, imprisonment, ritualistic sacrifice, castration, and whatever other fucked up topics pop up.

This Group Needs a Picture

Alright so two cyber fellas certainly don't capture this group. My immediate thought was to put a still from 'Cannibal Holocaust' but I thought that might add a notion of genre bias and limitation on discussions. Then I thought to put up an actual picture of a grotesque corpse or summat, but realized that undermined the purpose of the community addressing the 'extreme' exclusively as represented in calculated film art.

So I open the floor to submissions, and hopefully we'll get enough members that it could be proper voted on or summat.

How about a symbol of extremity? do these films generally fall into a certain rating category? Perhaps a giant X? Or scarlet letter-esque fashion? Mr. Yuck sticker? I think that would be pretty awesome. Anyway, just a few ideas.

I like Christi's idea about a red letter X. It's short for extreme, it reminds us of X-rated cinema, and if you can find a red X you get the added benefit of the Scarlet Letter connotation.

Works for me. I just remembered I don't have Photoshop anymore so my idea will not be coming to fruition anytime soon.

Outer Limits avatar with cutaways of Vanessa Montagne (hugest rack in Europe) Maybe the smallness makes it hard to see, but that's Vanessa Montagne (hugest rack in Europe) fading into the outer limits.

I second ( or third) the red X idea. I think that pretty much sums it up.

My second vote would be the surgical utensils from the Saw cover. That's pretty extreme.
