michael moore
Person: Michael Moore, Greatest Work: Sicko, Fahrenheit 9/11, Roger & Me, and others Gossip: So I know there are blogs out there about Sicko (including some interesting blogs here on spout- check them out) but I am opening the floor here for additional talk. I personally have not seen it yet, but likely will not. I was going to stay clear from a post that included someone so controversial (I love to problem solve and dislike personal debates). However, I thrive on reading and observing debates. Just as long as the extreme liberals don't threaten the extreme conservatives here, then let's hear it. A few tidbits I ran across, besides of course Moore being from my home state of Michigan and ruffling many feathers about health care (which is sort of my expertise), has been recently dieting. He has been trying "things called vegetables" (per his own report and phrasing) and has lost ?20-30 pounds since filming Sicko. I am not sure his motivation (his mind is unpredictable and he did not include this in his conversation about the weight loss). He also both jokingly and sarcastically praised Larry King for bumping his interview for Paris Hilton (I am trying so hard to withhold poking fun). He also was shunned from an interview that was supposed to happen at the NY stock exchange. I didn't get any info on any specific person he ticked off there. Any takers on discussion? Anyone know the details of just how much could come out of his newest legal troubles while filming in Cuba? Also, this is a little behind the times, but I didn't know he is an active NRA card holder but apparently only joined so he "could become president and dismantle the organization" (I did know of his voicing gun violence opinions). HUM>>> Here's a thought for you all. How many enemies or friends would we have (whether you are right wing, left wing, middle wing etc) if he drummed up enough $$$$$ and support to hold a position in our government? Yikes, judging by the reponses I've read about most of his interviews, work and so on, he sure can strongly bring out the fire in many.

Re: michael moore
Boy did he get panned by Denby in the New Yorker this week. After so many positive reviews about Sicko, I was suprised. NPR has a movies podcast every week and I listed to a brief interview with Moore on the podcast yesterday. He does give an excellent interview. He said that he made Sicko to try and help get business (healthcare/insurance) out from between the doctor and the patient. Speaking of politices, I see that Al Franken is definitely running for congress in Minnesota.
