Mel Gibson

Person:  Mel Gibson, Greatest Work:  The Patriot, Braveheart, What Women Want, Lethal Weapon Quads, Conspiracy Theory, Apocolypto, The Passion of Christ, Ransom just to name a few, Gossip:  Just wondering, for all you Mel Gibson fans out there what do you propose is going through his mind these days.  While I will deliberately not comment on allegations that deal with religion and race, he certainly appears worn and dethroned in recents years.  He has experienced such success both in front of and behind the camera, yet he is photographed in filthy foreign dives, obviously of various levels of intoxication but he has let his appearance even in rare respectable sitings go to the point of barely recognizable.  I do not attempt to understand how or if people hit early, mid or late life crises, but shouldn't he be scuttling along to vacations spots on private jets, with his large family or even a gorgeous girlfriend (if so he choses) instead of sporatically popping up at establishments likely designed for impoverished, unshowered and barely legal individuals.  Some opinions have surfaced that such sitings were on research or business endeavors but where are the pictures and interviews that in the past, made even the most devout wife "swoon"?

It seems he still is battling some issues given recent lingering court appearances in which he was falling asleep while the judge decides conditions of his ongoing probation for his 2006 DUI.

His enemy list has apparently grown, given 2 "mentally unstable" individuals have been awarded restraining orders against him.  He appeared to loose support from many high profile peers in recent years due to his much publicized  allegations against him.  I personally, have not noticed any hardcore celebrity friends holding fast by his side.  At times I wonder how much of his manic characters refect slighly more than acting.

Anyone out there have an opinion of his work such as Who Killed the Electic Car 2006, The Big Question 2006, The Singing Detective 2003, Signs 2002, Shattered 2007?  These titles are strangers to me.  Hopefully, his 2008 projects will prove successful, given I always wish the best for any individual famous or not.

And one last thing, just to frazzle all you Braveheart fans out there.  Although I have much respect for many of Mr. Gibsons projects, that movie is my ultimate namesake for undesireable movies in my database.  Movies that ignite curosity, historical fiction or historical fact, passion and thrill of the moments of action or duty... rank high, however, I cannot relish in such an ending as many of you envied die hard film enthusiasts can look past or even appreciate.  Yes, I fall to having to admit, I love a well rounded, loose end tying, happy ending.

Cheers!

I love The Singing Detective and the fact that Mel produced and acted in this film (you should see the character he plays!) makes it harder for me to dislike him.
