Dear Abby...

Hey, everyone! Abby here. I was pretty excited to get invited to this group, seeing as

a) being recognized as a cool person is always exciting and

b) I love recommending movies to people.

My movie tastes tend to run the gamut, so I've got a bit of knowledge in most genres. I will say, though, that I'm a total anglophile, so if you want British or Brit-related movies, that's my particular area of expertise. But I'm also good for horror, comedy, drama, fantasy and cult movies. I'm also semi-addicted to IMDB, so if it's details on a particular film/filmmaker/actor you're looking for, I'd be more than happy to help there, too.

A little about myself: I'm a college student at the University of Kansas, and do lots of work with the KU radio station, where I'm the assistant news director. I do movie reviews for the station, as well as for our newspaper's weekly entertainment magazine and an occasional film-related videoblog with my reviewing partner at the radio station.

How I'd like this to work: I'm pretty open, really. If you're looking for a recommendation, all I ask is that you give me something to work with. What kind of movie are you looking for? Is there a particular actor/actress/director that you're wanting to see more of? What kind of movie can I watch with a good merlot? That kind of stuff.
