Ouran High School Host Club

So, Ouran finally has a release date for the US! It was licensed by Funimation, and will be released on October 28th. The series is coming out in two 13-episode packs.

Personally I'm a bit hesitant about the dub, since it has Vic Mignogna playing Tamaki and I don't think he's very fitting, but I'm still going to buy the dvds and give it a listen. If i don't like it I can always just stick to the Japanese version, which I already love.

If you haven't seen this show yet I would definitely recommend picking up a copy of the dvd yourself. It is a really great show, and one of my favorites!

Thanks for the heads up... my girlfriend is always talking about this show, apparently she's seen the Japanese version before somewhere and really liked it... we had been looking for awhile and kind of gave up, so I'll have to look around again.  What is the basic premise of the series?  She kind of gave me an idea but I'm still a little fuzzy on it--probably my lack of knowledge of Japanese culture (everyone in Japan is a samurai or ninja... right? ;-)

The show is about a bunch of extremely handsome boys who are all extremely rich, and go to a private academy for rich people. They start a club called the Host Club, where basically, the good-looking guys entertain the female students of the school. Then Haruhi, a scholarship student (aka someone who is not a filthy rich bastard like the others, lol) comes to the school, and accidently finds the Host Club when looking for a room to study in. Then Haruhi knocks over one of the Host Club's vases, that just happens to be worth 8 million yen. Since Haruhi can't pay for, the Host Club makes him their dog, aka errand boy. But after realizing that Haruhi is actually quite handsome with his glasses off, they put him to work as a Host.

... I can't really say more with out spoiling anything, and I know it sounds a little bit weird, but it is an amazing show!

Also, this weekend I was at Anime Weekend Atlanta and got to preview the first four episodes of the dub. I have to say, the dub is much better than I expected! I dislike the twins' voices, but otherwise I think the rest of the characters are good. :)

Okay, it makes a lot more sense now.  Sounds like my experience as a middle class student at an upper class private highschool :-D  Glad to hear the dub is better than expected... its so hit-or-miss with some of the programming, however I think it has gotten better now with the larger fanbase in the past few years.
