The Best Poker Movie
Okay ... let's discuss the best poker movie of all time; I wish to put Rounders into contention.; This is the movie that influenced Chris Moneymaker ... causing him to join the WSOP the year that he won. And of course, it was that win that started the poker boom we';re experiencing today. Okay... this makes it the most important ... but was it really the best?
What about the reality? Are there others in contention?

Re: The Best Poker Movie
I could accept Rounders as the best poker movie around. I have a list of poker movies, but most of them are actually about something else, with poker thrown in as the background (like Five Card Stud). My favorite gambling movie is California Split, by far, with plenty of good cards in it, but it's not just about poker. High Roller deserves some votes. My guilty pleasure is Shade. And I need to watch The Cinncinati Kid again, because it's been a long time since I last saw it and I have no idea how I'd like it now.

I've always really liked A Big Hand For The Little Lady - it's a neat little western comedy with fun performances and it gives a great view of day long poker tournaments with card obsessives. Some think it's really flawed, but I recommend it and it's all about poker.

I'll take a look at this. has anybody else seen this movie? what are your thoughts? What list should it go into? Thumbs up or down?

Re:The Best Poker Movie
finally watched Lucky You. For what it was, I liked it a lot. i couldn't make it one of the greatest but the sets, all the poker greats in the cast, the hands - all excellent. the huge hole in the movie for me was that Bana was only shown playing at the casinos, not in private games. strange. has hold em helped poker movies or hurt them? easier to follow the action, but i've always felt there's a lot more to 7 or even 5 stud than to hold em. you never see two players go all in before the flop and then sit back and watch the deal. all the drame of flipping a coin.
