loudQUIETloud
Anyone here a fan of the Pixies?
I just saw the documentary about their recent back-together tour, loudQUIETloud. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone who has no idea who they are. There's not much introduction or explination to the ground, but if you like their music and are interested in what's going on with them lately, it was pretty interesting. Pretty well shot too. And I was able to see footage of the concert I saw in at the Aragon Ballroom two years ago. It's like an 8 minute walk from my house, so I was able to see some footage from my neighborhood. I was looking for myself in the crowd, but coudn't pick me out ever. Interesting to see what was going on backstage at that time. Apparently David was on some kind of drugs and had totally screwed up his part just the night before.
There were hints that recording of new material wouldn't be totally impossible, although at this time no planned for. I'm hoping for it though. I'm sure it would be considerably different. But I've enjoyed all of Charles' stuff up to this point.
Anyone else a fan?

Re: loudQUIETloud
Rock and Roll and band stories have always been incredibly intriguing to me, I liked the recent "based-on-the-true-story-of..." ones like Walk the Line, 24 Hour Party People and the thrilling coming-of-age feeling of Almost Famous.
But I have an extra warm spot in my heart for AIR's "Eating Sleeping Waiting and Playing, Radiohead's Meeting People is Easy and the New Order Story for example... They are invigorating, give you a feeling of a turning point in the world, a revolution.
I've never seen loudQUIETloud, and I used to love the Pixies! I'm going to check that one out.
Seen any of these?

The only one I've seen is 24 Hour Party People. I really liked the direction and Coogan's performance. I have a friend who loves Joy Division and New Order, so that's why he loved it so much and had me watch it. He may like that New Order film. I'm not sure if he's seen it. I liked the brief appearance by Mark from the Fall. I wish they had more of The Fall in the film.
My other roommate, who I guess is on Spout now, is a huge Radiohead fan and has told me to see Meeting People Is Easy a couple times. Still haven't gotten around to that.
I just started getting interested in Air, so maybe I'll check out that film too.
Some of my other favorite bands, They Might Be Giants, and Pavement each have some documentaries about them out now. Gigantic (A Tale of Two Johns) and Pavement: Slow Century. They were both quite enjoyable, but with Gigantic, there was too much of people just fawning over them. Trying to get other celebrities to recite their lyrics and just speak of their praises, it was too dorky. Not that TMBG aren't dorky, well they are more geeky. But they are much more savvy than the designs of that film in my opinion.
