Title from clues

So some time ago I get an e-mail from my brother-in-law.  One of his daughters has an extra credit assignment from school - the assignment is to determine the title of a film based upon the following clues.

- Democracy vs. Totalitarianism
- Set in the 20th Century
- Nominated for 8 academy awards
- Won 3 academy awards for best picture, best director, best screenplay
- Twins wrote the screenplay
- 102 minutes long
- The score was written by the same person who wrote the score for "Gone with the Wind"

It seems that they spent an hour or so and could not find the answer, so they e-mailed me.  They were frustrated when I gave them the answer in about 5 minutes... (you've got to love IMDB)

And the answer is...

I would never have gotten that... Probably because I've yet to see either film.

It's not the first-hand info from seeing the films, it's logical use of the clues at IMDB...

CLUES:

1. Written by an ex-con.

2. An ex-boxer plays a transvestite.

3. Here's a more oblique clue: "Come with me if you want to live."

That is tough, but I would say Animal Factory all though I don't get the 3rd clue unless you are refering to Edward Furlong being in it.

Yes! And you're right about that third clue. I guess it's more like a riddle in itself than a clue, but I thought it would get people searching for either Swarzenneger or Furlong...

The 2nd clue is what gave it away for me and then when I looked it up, I read about the writer and then the 3rd one just fit it.

1) Directed by a "Master"

2) Written by it's star.

3) "The handsome one" speaks Spanish

What movie am I?
